Winter Wonderland of Style So many think of winter as just the holidays and they wait for Spring to think of fashion again. But we love the winter and believe it is the time to indulge in lush knits, sparkle accessories while layering to stay chic & warm. Winter lasts from the end of December to the end of March. Winter 2014 is time for the Winter Olympics in Socchi, Russia. We love Figure Skating and will be following it closely during the Winter Games. So with this in mind we thought it fitting to bring out the Chic of Ballet and Ice Skating. Both go hand in hand. One influences the other in costumes. This Issue is dedicated to Winter Mode and the influence of Ballerinas’ and Ice Skaters‘ Costumes on women’s fashion and accessories. So..... listen up ladies and get the Tutu Igenue look. And Best Wishes to Team USA in Socchi!

Rose Valois Paris Modiste Extordinaire A lady who created elegant headwear and dressed many Parisienne - Rose Valois. With a name that rings of royalty and a flair for high fashion she stood out as a milliner during the 1920s-1950s. Why we have chosen to do a piece on this particular milliner is obvious. She knew how to take extravagance and create a ready to wear piece that was magic. It imposed beauty to the face and rang as a point of reference for the look. There is unfortunately not alot written about the history of this woman but her designs speak volumes about her. They were sensual vrai chic hats. She began her professional career like so many of her time at the House of Caroline Reboux. You can see Caroline’s influence in her headpieces of flower, feathers and veiling. She herself established her own house in 1927. Many tags show Rose Valois, 18 Rue Royale in Paris, France. Collectors today site her hats as a much sought after but hard to find milliner. She was also known as an innovative milliner during France Occupation in WWII. In fact it is said she employed Vera Leigh as a designer who was a member of the SOE for France and was caught by the Germans and later killed in a concentration camp for her secret liaisons for France. 47 MM

RED HAIR For 2013/2014 we have focused on Red Hair Colors & Hair Care. But we really have made an effort to bring you the best in Hair Care for any color. We deem the 21st Century as the Century of the Red Head. This color has seen a boom since 2010 and it keeps climbing. The amount of at home red hair color systems keeps growing. We chose to try different systems during 2013 and will continue to do so in 2014. Some of the standout brands were Couture Colour, Vidal Sasson & J. F. Lazartigue. Each one of these gave a bright and highlighted red color. We have chosen for our models different levels of Copper Reds from strawberry blondes to rich medium red. Copper is by far one of the most flattering and worn red hair colors. It tends to brighten up the face and warm the skin color. It is important when using at home systems to remember you will not achieve the results on the Box Cover Model. This is due to the fact that we all have different hair color to start with & this effects the end result you will achieve. Furthermore, any at home red hair color system will fade. This is the downfall of Red Hair Color that it bleaches in the sun easily and fades easily. If you need long lasting hair color it is best to go to a professional. We tried a professional at home color system that burnt our models hair and this was disastrous so we recommend to leave professional color to the expert salons.

Tip:

When choosing red hair color for yourself consider your natural hair color & skin color. There are many different types of red hair color: cherry, burgundy, coppers, auburns, etc.... It’s very easy to look online like in pinterest to find examples of different colors. Also, it is a great idea to maybe clip different examples to a photo of yourself to see if it will blend well with your skin color. Red hair can either enhance your skin or make it look unattractively sallow so do your homework before coloring.
