The interest in these Commercial Building Awards has been very strong, and we have received nominations from Surrey, the Langleys, Abbotsford, Mission and Chilliwack. To be eligible for nomination, an investment, commercial or industrial building, development or renovation project had to have been completed between January 1, 2013 and July 31, 2014, and the difficult task of determining winners in the categories went to our distinguished team of independent judges, selected from the professional and development industries.

The criteria required a building or renovation project to complement the surrounding properties and area, be esthetically pleasing, include unique architectural features, and answer a specific development need within the community. The level of finish and choice in construction materials was also a determining factor, as was any environmentally friendly or green elements for possible consideration. This evening, we are also very pleased to note that one of our judges, renowned real estate expert Ozzie Jurock, will provide us with an exciting keynote address about the commercial real estate industry and opportunities. We are very excited about the Fraser Valley Commercial Building Awards and the high level of quality development underway throughout the Fraser Valley. Ozzie Jurock

Ozzie Jurock (FRI) is the author of Forget About Location, Location, Location, What, When, Where, and How to Buy Real Estate in Canada and The Real Estate Action Book. Ozzie Jurock is also president of Jurock Publishing Ltd (since 1993). Ozzie is the only Canadian real estate advisor featured in Donald Trump’s new book: Trump: The Best Real Estate Advice I Ever Received: 100 Top Experts Share Their Strategies. He has also written hundreds of published real estate articles in The Vancouver Sun, Business in Vancouver, The Calgary Herald, The Edmonton Journal, the Globe and Mail, the Western Investor and dozens of magazines. (List of published articles). He has served on the boards of the BC Real Estate Council, the Vancouver Real Estate Board, the UBC Real Estate Research Bureau, the Quality Council of BC and the Advisory Board of BCIT among others. He also served as a judge for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the year award. Ozzie Jurock is known as one of Canada’s leading business motivators and his investor outlook conferences attract audiences of over 500 attendees every time. Allan Corbett Allan has served in numerous capacities in various real estate organizations, and is Chair of the Canadian Commercial Council of`REALTORS® which represents the interests of Commercial Real Estate members of the Canadian Real Estate Association, and now serves as the Chair Elect of that body.

He is the President of Paramount Realty, a boutique Commercial Broker in Burnaby, BC and a member of the Commercial division of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver for over 30 years. Allan has also served as the President of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver and the Real Estate Institute.

David Kirk Dave is a partner in the appraisal and real estate consulting firm of Cunningham & Rivard and is a recognized expert in the valuation of all types of commercial, industrial and institutional real estate on Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast. David has specialized expertise in the valuation of marinas, the valuation of going concern businesses (being real estate based business operations like hotels, pubs and restaurants), the valuation of wetlands and conservation covenants, the rental valuation of airport lands and arbitration expertise for retail and office lease space. David has been in the real estate valuation industry for 29 years beginning his career in the lower mainland and Fraser Valley prior to relocating to the island in 1990. David has been active in the community having very recently resigned from his position as vice president and director of entertainment for the Vancouver Island Exhibition (2004 through 2007).
