Manual or automatic inRation? Some hints to help you choose. Inllcrtion can be triggered in 3 ways: • Oral inflation: possible on alilifejacket models. The oral inflation tube allows you to pump up.

• Manual inllcrtion : firing the C02gascylinder is doneby pulling an activating handle. Specially recommended for sailors who maybe occasionally immersed when manoeuvring (forexample when sitting outon rather acrobatic manoeuvres). • Automatic inflation: the lifejacket inflates automatically on immersion in the water. Recommended for cruising, an absolute must for non-swimmers and for single-handed sailors, as the Iifejacket inflates even if the wearer is unconscious.

2 automatic inflation principles: . Automatic inAation with water-dissolving capsuleor cartridge: a chemical product dissolves when in contact with water, which activates the inflation head and releases the gas.

. Automatic inflation with Hammar hydrostatic mechanism: when the lifejacket is fully immersed in the water, the hydrostatic pressure acts on a diaphragm. As the pressure increases (i.e. as the wearer goes deeper in the water), the diaphragm lets the waterthrough and the inflation head is automatically activated. This system offers a better guarantee thatthe lifejacket may notinflate unintentionally when exposed to a water spray or when stowed in a damp locker. The hydrostatic inflation version is available on Pilot, Pilot lOR and Optisafe models.

Inflatable lilejacket inspection and servicing procedure An inflatable Iifejacket must be serviced and thoroughly inspected at regular intervals, to make sure it is fully operational. • Before putting off to sea, we strongly recommend thatyou check visually the general condition of yourIifejacket. This consists in checking the major components: outside hull, inflation chamber, straps, fastening buckles, whisrle, retro-reflective tapes, C02cylinder, firing head (make sure thatthe green indicators are present on the inflation head). Replace the re-arm pack if necessary. • Your Iifejacket must be fully serviced at regular intervals : this process includes checking and testing the inflation system and the airtightness of the inflation chamber. We recommend to have your lifejacket serviced professionallyby :

What does a servicing session* consist in ? (*conducted by Plastimoor by an approved station) • Thorough inspection of Iifejacket general condition. • Lifejacket is inflated to check for airtightness. • Inspection of the inAation system (inflation head, C02gascylinder). • Re-arming and re-packing.

In the absence of a regulation on servicing intervals, Plastimo recommends to have lifejackets serviced in ourfactory or approved stations every other year. In case of intensive or professional use, a minimum annual inspection is necessary.
