It seems that each time I curate a new issue I swear it's my favourite! I guess that's because it's all beautiful, fresh new features, but really I do think this one is full, not of only the most stunning editorials and real weddings, but of outstanding photography. This issue sees great diversity in the editorials. From the most exquisite desert boudoir session in California to a perfectly 'undone' shoot that took place in a gorgeous old building in London; from the painterly quality of Elizabeth Messina's ocean shoot to warm autumn tones in the Blue Mountains by Leah Kua, there is something for all seasons. Our real weddings take us from a summer soiree in Moscow, Russia, to a chic, rustic affair here in New Zealand, by way of an Italian extravaganza in the charming town of Portofino. As I finish off this issue, I'm getting ready to head off myself on a road trip down the West Coast of America with my husband and I'm excited to be meeting up with several people along the way who have become 'cyber friends' over the years. One of the beauties of this industry is that it really does make the world seem like a smaller and friendlier place, and the fact that we can share and connect through imagery and declarations of love is something rather special. I hope whether you're reading this as an industry vendor or a bride, you find something that inspires you to create your best work, or your best day. Enjoy!

In planning their big day, Kristy and Shay wanted to incorporate all the things that they love, and that reflect the style of their home. With a field next door to their main venue, they were able to separate the different areas effectively, creating a real experience for their guests. Kristy kept her colours neutral, allowing her the flexibility to choose flowers the week of the wedding, and giving delightful dahlias the starring role. Favours were fragranced soaps handmade by her mum. The evening ended on an outdoor dancefloor, with an alfresco bar and strings of lights shining down on the happy revellers below.

23

"Kristy and Shay’s wedding was one of the sweetest weddings we’ve had the joy of photographing. The day was a perfect mix of beauty, sentiment and love."

"Through the countless weddings and shoots we’ve worked on together in the past, Kristy has become a dear friend who’s work we revere. With the delicate and unstructured beauty she weaves into her designs it’s always such a thrill seeing her concepts come to life, so we were eagerly awaiting to see what she had planned for her own wedding! There were precious details and sweet nooks everywhere. A few of my favourite aspects of the day were Kristy’s shoes - which were the same shoes her mumma walked down the aisle in, Kristy and Shay’s gorgeous daughter Abigale, who was the cutie-pie flower girl, her sister’s vintage bridesmaids dress, the darling handmade soap favours, and of course Kristy’s stunning dress which she designed with Jennifer Gifford. There was so much to photograph, it was a total joy and thrill. The atmosphere was organic, very relaxed and natural. A pure reflection of Kristy and Shay’s personalities and love!" As the wedding day begins, our bride takes a quiet moment alone

over breakfast at a rustic outdoor breakfast table and reminisces over old love letters as she begins her transformation from girl to bride. Beautiful lingerie from Shell Belle and gowns from Delphine Manivet and Sarah Janks illustrate the process, the background loose and organic, contrasting muted blue and grey tones against the raw, almost run-down interior of an old London pub turned wedding venue. The table setting is simple and minimal, as if it were curated from much-loved antiques collected around the home, the stationery freshly calligraphed, the lush flowers picked and arranged from the surrounding countryside on the morning of the wedding.

"Running a wedding blog and styling weddings and shoots (for Wedding Sparrow) means I know what I like and am confident in the wedding industry, but by no means do I consider myself an expert on marriage. Andrew and I have been together for eleven years but married for just two, so although we know each other inside out, we're still 'winging it' every single day. When our friend Katie Hyatt from Signora e Mare suggested a second wedding anniversary vow renewal, it didn't take me long to convince Andrew to celebrate by combining our love for each other with our love for film photography!"

"Andrew and I are both believers in making time for each other in a good and strong marriage, but with busy jobs, finding that time to remember who we are outside of work can be tough. We loved every minute of the anniversary shoot, and will treasure this day and the time spent with amazing vendors as well as the incredible film imagery we have to take away from it forever."

For their wedding day, Elen and Nikolay dreamed of creating a warm, at-home ambience, a celebration that felt like a summery homemade dinner in the countryside with their nearest and dearest. A series of thoughtful touches and beautiful details created a serene atmosphere, a cozy celebration that was a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Fluttering ribbons and graceful lace, rustic wooden signage with flowing, handpainted script, airy floral compositions in the English garden style – details that reflected the pair’s relaxed alfresco vision in shades of ivory, caramel and honey. Escort cards were attached to a board of flowers, creating a deconstructed bouquet that tied in perfectly with the bridal party’s exquisite florals.

The couple ensured there was plenty to entertain their guests once the waterside ceremony was complete. On the green grass near the marquee that housed their wedding dinner, they placed a sweet bar and a hookah lounge, where guests could mingle beneath the trees. They could also try weaving wreaths, or having their portraits drawn by a specially commissioned artist. At the end of the night, a spectacular fireworks display lit up the night sky, before guests were treated to a same day edit of the wedding film, in the best tradition of watching a movie with family and friends.

70

Elen invited her guests to participate in the chic country dress code by publishing inspiring images on her social networks. The bride herself wore a breathtaking Elie Saab gown, the delicate Louisse, which perfectly suited her garden wedding style with its softly flared skirt and cap sleeves adorned with flowers and gemstones.

"The Sutro Bath Ruins in San Francisco have the most gorgeous palette from the cypress and eucalyptus trees, peeling paint, deep pools, moss covered rocks and the crashing sea that borders it. I chose a gown that matched some of the 100 year old paint that flowed in the wind like the billowing sails of a boat. The rich blue jacket of her groom reflects the deep pools that remain from the original structure. I used eucalyptus leaves to create a scalloped seating chart and utilized the beautiful leavings of the sea to add to the elements we brought to the site. Today this site isn't what it was originally hoped to be, but in that destruction has come the most unexpected beauty." REBEKAH, A & B CREATIVE

An upscale Southern wedding at an elegant outdoor venue is what these two musical lovebirds dreamed of for their big day, and with the help of talented wedding vendors, family and friends, that’s exactly what they created. Their venue, a beautiful plantation home with full-circle views of the rolling Tennessee Hills, brought to mind the lake trips of their youth, while a firework show was a happy reminder of their July 4th engagement.

Taylor knew exactly which flowers she wanted: cafĂŠ au lait dahlias, with astilbe, peonies and garden roses, as well as deep green foliage to reflect the tree where the romantic outdoor ceremony took place. Finding a caterer who could cook like her grandmother was another priority, and the spread of delicious Southern fare included banana pudding, macaroni and a biscuit bar.

A love of art brought Lucinda and Simon together. Despite pursuing different degrees at university, they regularly bumped into one another at exhibition openings or film screenings, and soon their relationship went from abstract to Romantic. Seven years later, they tied the knot with a wedding that was as beautiful as it was personal. Wearing a delicate French lace Collette Dinnigan gown, Lucinda reflected the same timeless, elegant and romantic aesthetic as their flowers and dĂŠcor, in soft shades of nudes, pastels and a dash of plum.

"Being a designer and having a creative-minded/handyman fiancÊ, Simon and I managed to do almost everything ourselves, which really gave that personal touch to the day. I designed our letterpress invites using simple, elegant embellishments and our own wax seal to make our guests feel special (it worked – everyone was thrilled!). We had loads of fun designing personalised tea towels and notes for our guests, making signs and garlands, crafting bunting and confetti cones, and even making our wedding cake. Our amazing friends and family were also involved in every part of the day, which just made it feel all the more personal. It would not have been the same without all of the lovely people that pulled it together."

It must have been Fate that brought Alison and William together, two strangers on a train who struck up a conversation and eventually fell in love. To celebrate their marriage, they invited guests to join them on an Italian adventure, ending in a fairytale Great Gatsby-inspired wedding in stylish Portofino. A wealth of details paid tribute to both Italy and their personal histories, from Venetian masquerade masks to New Orleans-style jazz, and extended to the wedding party’s attire – William wore a bespoke Italian suit, Alison an Italian lace veil with her modern Peter Langner gown, and the bridesmaids were outfitted in vintage jewellery and champagne, gold, peach and blush dresses, to reflect to soft colours of the Ligurian coast.

Invitations were designed to give guests a taste of Italy and set the stage for what was to come. A custom air mail-style envelope contained a map of Italy with swans – the couple’s wedding insignia – marking key spots, as well as a handsewn leather book and an outline of the week’s itinerary.

Jensine and Matt's story began when they worked at the same restaurant. The two developed a tradition of stopping for ice cream at Molly Moon’s after hours, where time would slip by as they chatted, laughed and fell in love. And it was there, in their usual spot, that Matt proposed on a rainy Monday night, Jensine’s ring secured on an upright spoon in her two-flavoured single scoop. Needless to say, the Seattle ice cream brand made a reappearance at their wedding, providing the sweetest ending to a perfect day.

From the little kids to the elderly, people were moving!”
