She has had formal lessons in playing musical instruments, to which she credits her easy transition into DJing. “It’s about counting and the beats,” she says.

In 2003, her DJ boyfriend got her into DJing. She would unexpectedly develop a successful career in this maledominated DJ industry. She shares “I got my first gig after three months of learning the chops. In 2005, Deep Dish (electronica super duo Dubfire and Sharam) discovered me at a gig and offered me to join their company, Bullitt Bookings in Washington, DC.”

a statuesque 5’11” model, who is also the famed DJ Miss Nine in the international club scene, and managed to squeeze in a cover shoot and short interview right before her successful gig at Amber Ultralounge and before flying off to Cebu the very next morning for another performance. Here’s what we gathered.

4

Her highly anticipated compilation and second album Yoshitoshi Ibiza mixed by Miss Nine rose to become number 1 on the iTunes Dance Album Chart.

My parents did not initially approve of her music career. “But after four or five years, my mom watched me on the decks at a gig and finally understood,” she confesses. As if touring the world as a DJ and model were not enough, she has time to host her own radio show, Nine Sessions, which is broadcasted in more than 30 internet radio stations worldwide, including DI.fm, Proton and Frisky. She has played alongside the biggest names and has headlined notable global events in the international scene. One of her most memorable is the gig held in Sirena Club in Maresias, Brazil. “It was a seven-hour set with 3,500 in attendance. I also liked the gig I had with DJ Tiesto (world’s number one DJ) with 50,000 people in Bogota, Colombia,” she shares. Despite a hectic and grueling 24/7 schedule managing two successful international careers, Kristin Schrot always manages to exude charm and grace both on the catwalk and on the DJ decks. Catch her at www. miss-nine.com.

In this seventh year anniversary and 85th issue of 24/7 Nocturnal Navigator, we have lined up seven sinful suggested activities for each day of your week.

vanity

NTSALON.COM

Get a makeover, mani, pedi or even a spray tan for that hip, tantalizing look for the incoming work week. Make an appointment with Basement Salon (2/L, Power Plant Mall, Rockwell, Makati, T: 898-2222, 899-6666 or Shangri-la Mall, G/F, Carpark Building, EDSA, Mandaluyong, T: 638-2222, 638-6666). An avant garde trim or soothing treatment may come with a cup of tea, a shoulder massage as well as the best chill music and ambience this side of the city. No need to get separation anxiety from your Facebook or Twitter networks during the hourlong treatments as the entire two-storey salon is a hotspot.

SUNDAY

THURSDAY

envy

Let this day turn you green with unbridled envy. Head on over to Japanese casual restaurant Sango and get an order of their much talked-about, thick and affordable green tea milk shake. Have a mouthful of the ever-refreshing Pinoy fave, a green mango shake at Fely J’s and Lorenzo’s Way. Find out why nightlife habitues can’t get enough of the mojitos at Larry’s Bar, or Cafe Havana.

MONDAY

sloth

Get over the Monday blues with an in-home spa treatment fit for kings. This is an indulgence you can afford in this city. Call Orange Home Spa (T: 517-5564 or (0919) 624-1181, www.orangehomespa. com) for the massages of your choice from Shiatsu, Reflexology, Balinese and very soon, the traditional Filipino Hilot. Or choose your wild from massage companies listed at http://philippinemassage-spa.com.

TUESDAY

lust

Find yourself a quiet getaway by rekindling and reigniting that (possibly) waning spark with your partner. Radisson Blu, the upper upscale brand of the global Radisson hotel chain is set to unveil its first Asian hotel in Cebu City at the end of September 2010. The much-awaited opening of the 5-star hotel will re-define what 21st century luxury and unparalleled service is in the Asian region’s ultra competitive hospitality industry. Now, this kind of hotel is something we definitely won’t mind lusting for, 24/7.

FRIDAY

wrath

WEDNESDAY

Feel the anger of the late, controversial Greek soprano Maria Callas as “La Divina” unleashes her famed temper and acerbic wit on aspiring, talented but undisciplined opera singers in the Tony-award winning “Master Class.” Cherie Gil plays Callas, considered the greatest soprano that ever lived, in an intense, jaw-dropping performance worthy of a Tony nomination. Terence McNally’s Master Class is based on Maria Callas’ series of master classes at the Juilliard School in New York City from October 1971 to March 1972. “Master Class” runs at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza for seven performances this month until August 15. It is directed by Michael Williams.

//headlights

Do you dream of channelling a Roman Emperor’s gluttonous lifestyle? Head on to the city’s biggest and most exhaustive (or exhausting?) buffet, with over 300 dishes of every food variety you can imagine from every part of the globe. Interactive open cooking stations offering five different cuisines (Mediterranean, Japanese, Indian, Chinese and Thai) at Spiral [G/F, Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, CCP Complex, Roxas Blvd., Pasay City, T: 551-5555]. With the grand staircase leading to the restaurant and the view of the Manila Bay and a sprawling outdoor garden, there is nothing more you can ask for. Aaah...this is The Life!

greed

In what was a pleasant surprise when it was included in the report as one of the most searched Philippine destinations on Google, Greenhills Shopping Center has indeed come a long way and has something just about for everybody. You name it; they’ve got it, with lots to spare. No need to worry. The pirated items - CDs, DVDs, shirts, bags and shoes seems a tad too much tempting to just ignore but there is still a lot to find interesting in the year-round shopping mecca. Everything from furniture to gadgets to accessories somehow finds its way to you from the thousands of merchants selling their wares, without burning a hole in your pocket. It probably will just leave a lasting impression in your mind. Tiangge or bazaar shopping may also be had at its sister complex Tiendesitas and at Market! Market! which have a larger collection of local furniture and food specialties from all over the country.

Feel the anger of the late, controversial Greek soprano Maria Callas as “La Divina unleashes her famed temper and acerbic wit on aspiring, talented but undisciplined opera singers in the Tony-award winning “Master Class. Cherie Gil plays Callas, considered the greatest soprano that ever lived, in an intense, jaw-dropping performance worthy of a Tony nomination. Terence McNally’s Master Class is based on Maria Callas’ series of master classes at the Juilliard School in New York City from October 1971 to March 1972. “Master Class runs at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza for seven performances this month until August 15. It is directed by Michael Williams.

BIGBY’S CAFÉ AND RESTAURANT

It probably will just leave a lasting impression in your mind.

not to be missed

Tiangge or bazaar shopping may also be had at its sister complex Tiendesitas and at Market! Market! which have a larger collection of local furniture and food specialties from all over the country.
