If removed from the location it would lose all or a substantial part of its meaning. symbol - Something that represents something else by association, resemblance, or convention, Especially a simple visual sign used to represent something invisible or abstract ($ for money, heart for love, etc. symmetry - Balance in design or arrangement, with similar or identical elements situated parallel to one another on either side of an axis.
