MILLENNIUM GEAR HISTORY Millennium Gear was founded in 2006 by owner and CEO, Derin Graham. Derin Graham is a former football star who began his athletic career at Ben Davis high school in Indianapolis, IN. Derin set wide receiver records as a senior, played in the football state championship and won two state championships in basketball, as well. After graduation, Derin attended Indiana University on a full football scholarship and became the all-time kick returner in the University’s history. Derin then went on to play eight years of Arena football, winning a championship in 2006. With over 22 years of athletic experience, Derin recognized an issue with football uniforms and accessories. During his athletic career, Derin, as well as his teammates, experienced a need for custom fitted uniforms and readymade accessories. After years of taping, tucking, cutting and adjusting uniforms/accessories, Derin was inspired to create a company that caters to the athlete. “We wanted to solve a problem in sports apparel to assist the players in playing at their highest performance level.” Derin walked into a dance/cheer manufacturer in Indianapolis wearing a snug fit shirt and a pair of shoulder pads that had holes cut under the sleeves. Derin began taping, tucking and cutting the uniform to demonstrate how players often adjust their gear. After meeting with the president of the 30 year old manufacturer, he instantly recognized an opportunity to fulfill a need in the sports apparel industry. The President began manufacturing Millennium Gear apparel within a month. Since 2006, MG has evolved from producing 10 accessories, to carrying over 100 products; including uniforms for 11 sports.
