Before starting your week’s cruise of the historic jewels scattered along the Danube you can also enjoy three days in Prague, often referred to as the “golden city”. You spend the nights in the superbly luxurious 5-star Hotel Le Palais and explore the capital of the Czech Republic by day. Then your cruise begins in the historically important city of Nuremberg and goes downstream along part of the Rhine-Main-Danube canal to Passau, the Bavarian city where three rivers converge. From here you can take an excursion to the idyllic Salzkammergut region and visit Salzburg, the world-famous city where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born. Some of the further Austrian highlights of this cruise are a guided tour of the city of Linz, a visit to Melk abbey in the Wachau district, and glamorous Vienna with its magnificent buildings. Then you see Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia located on the corner adjoining Austria and Hungary, before the ship takes you further downstream for your arrival in Budapest.
