reetings! This spring, our staff will be working with the University

of Northern Colorado Department of Sociology to conduct a Youth Needs Assessment. This Assessment is a tool that will be very valuable to our staff when planning for places, parks and programs for your kids and our community youth. The assessment itself will be done through a telephone survey to randomly selected families in Greeley so that we can derive a “scientifically valid” response representative of our entire population. In addition to the survey, we will also be talking to specific user groups and conducting site visits to all of our parks in order to capture additional

Featured Park… Allen Park

Welcome to Allen Park. This 11-acre neighborhood park located at 4830 9th Street was constructed in 1987. It bears the namesake of Grace Norcross Allen, a local poet and historian. Mrs. Allen frequently wrote articles for the Greeley Tribune from 1945-1948. Many of her articles related the historical characters and events in and around the Weld County area. She particularly enjoyed writing about children. Allen Park provides a large playground structure for your children with a separate swing area. The site provides a fishing lake which is stocked periodically by the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Division. Enjoy your stay at Allen Park.

data and user comments.  If you are contacted by UNC, I sincerely hope you will give us an honest assessment of your opinion regarding our services to you. After all, we want to provide the best services we can to you and to Greeley, and your opinion matters! If you aren’t contacted but would still like to offer feedback, please visit our website at www.greeleygov.com for more information. Have a great spring and don’t forget — get at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week (and yes, we can help with that)! Cheers, Andy

JUNIOR GOLF

CITY OF GREELEY JUNIOR GOLF PROGRAM Lesson Camps Whether your junior is just trying out the game or aspires to become a champion, we offer a program designed to help them learn to love golf.

For fee information or club rentals, contact Highland Hills Golf Course at 330.7327.

Spring Developmental Sessions The developmental program is open to all golfers from the age of 9 to 18 that already play and are looking to improve all areas of their game by doing the work that is necessary to become competitive golfers. This will be a group session in which students will have an opportunity to get in-depth instruction, video analysis of their swings, practice routines, and playing strategies to help them develop their skills so that they can realize their potential. The spring session will be March 22-May 17; the lessons will be held on Saturdays and will run from 12-2pm. The cost will be $80 per student. We are offering spring break lessons camps from March 31-April 3; there will be beginning, intermediate, and advanced sessions. These camps will be one hour per day, for the four days in a row; fee is $40 per student.

12

bring in the smaller clubs, pay the difference in fees, and check out a bigger size! It’s that simple.

On April 19, May 3 and May 17, we will offer one-day sessions. This will include snacks and four hours of instruction on all phases of the game. Following the morning sessions, there will be playing opportunities. Fee for these sessions will be $40 per student. Junior Golf Club Library Buying golf clubs for your junior champ can be difficult because they grow out of them fast. Let us take that worry away. Our new long-term rental program will allow you to check out junior clubs like books out of a library! Get your junior started with the equipment they need now. The best thing is, if your junior grows out of them,

Point Reward Opportunity The Highland Hills Junior Golf Association will begin a program in which juniors can earn points for practicing and playing. Points can be accrued towards pro shop merchandise, gift cards and other rewards! Ask about Membership perks. Annual membership in the Junior Association is $20 for players without an official handicap and $45 for players who want an official Colorado Golf Association handicap. We recommend that all players who look forward to playing in tournaments get an official handicap. If you have any questions about Highland Hills Junior Golf programs, please feel free to email the pros at highlandhillsjuniorgolf@gmail. com or call us at 330.7327.

TED’S MONTANA GRILL

Denver’s most historic eating and drinking establishment, located at 1000 Osage Street, is now in its second century of operation. The Buckhorn Exchange, which has liquor license Number One in the State of Colorado, was founded on November 17, 1893, by Henry H. “Shorty Scout” Zietz. Don’t miss this chance to enjoy some good beef, buffalo and wild game meals. Fee includes transportation and escort; the cost of lunch is on your own. Age 50+. Min-8, Max-13.

Ted’s Montana Grill began with two American entrepreneurs and a dream. As a business leader, philanthropist, environmentalist and avid outdoorsman, Ted Turner decided to share his love of Big Sky Country and its tradition of hearty food. He also wanted to celebrate an American icon - the bison who once thundered across the Great Plains. Ted joined forces with famed restaurateur George McKerrow, Jr., a pioneer and leader in casual dining, and together they created Ted’s Montana Grill. Like bison at home on the range, all guests know they will always feel welcome at Ted’s Montana Grill. Trip includes transportation and escort; the cost of lunch is on your own. Age 50+.
