The Greater Lansing region provides businesses that import, export or ship products domestically with reliable transportation system, superior infrastructure and an ideal location that is perfect for the continuous flow of commerce. Being positioned on the NAFTA corridor with key locations on a major rail-line from Canada to Mexico, convenient freeway infrastructure and a multi-modal transportation system represent important assets that make the region desirable for new business investments. Capital Region International Airport is one of the region’s major economic engines, contributing 1 billion dollars annually to the local economy. Designated by the U.S. Department of Commerce as an official U.S. Port of Entry, Port Lansing is mid-Michigan’s newest inland port that allows for goods and passengers to clear customs through U.S. Customs and Border Protection approved facilities in Lansing. For the public and business community, these significant functions can be performed locally without having to travel to congested metro hubs like Detroit and Chicago. International travel, importing, exporting and freight consolidation can now be done with businesses, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and logistics coordinators, located here in the Greater Lansing region, supporting companies and jobs here in our area.

Serving Greater Lansing since 1972, the Capital Area Transportation Authority’s (CATA) governmental membership includes the Lansing and East Lansing as well as Delhi, Lansing and Meridian Townships. CATA’s growth is really an opportunity for thousands of area residents. At its beginning in 1972, CATA operated 14 fixed-routes and provided 750,000 rides.
