SOUND FUTURES Artistically, the London Philharmonic Orchestra is riding on the crest of a wave. This pioneering ensemble, the heartbeat of Southbank Centre’s award-winning The Rest is Noise festival, continues to excite and inspire audiences under the leadership of Vladimir Jurowski, its outstanding Principal Conductor. Beyond the concert hall it is the Orchestra that was heard around the world in the Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit; at the Queen’s Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant; and at the London 2012 Olympic Games. It is the Orchestra that takes British music-making to fifty world cities each year and yet reaches many thousands of young and disadvantaged people in its own community with an expansive music education programme. It is also one of a select few organisations to have been afforded a once-in-a-generation opportunity to secure their long term future through a special Catalyst Endowment Award from Arts Council England (ACE). Through this award ACE will match all gifts to a new London Philharmonic Orchestra Endowment – its first such fund – up to a total of £1 million, as long as they are made by 30 April 2015. The initiative represents a huge step towards achieving the financial stability required for the Orchestra to maintain the excellent musicianship and creative adventure for which it is known. Through our Sound Futures campaign you can help us to achieve this. Sound Futures will underpin bold ambitions across the spectrum of the Orchestra’s work, from offering young Londoners their first musical experiences to realising the visionary artistic architecture of major festivals that change the way audiences engage with music. The next few pages illuminate the vision. Your gifts will realise it and create the basis for a Sound Future. We have until 30 April 2015...

DONATE TO SOUND FUTURES TO ALLOW US TO INSPIRE MORE YOUNG LONDONERS THROUGH MUSIC EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY INITIATIVES, HELPING THEM TOWARDS A BETTER-SOUNDING FUTURE London Philharmonic Orchestra education projects benefit 40,000 people each year, nurturing talent and combating cultural disadvantage. Our endowment will

increase our reach and impact within the communities the Orchestra was founded to serve. Initiatives like Noyye’s Fludde (2013) will create extraordinary musical experiences for

young Londoners in and out of school, in local venues and at Southbank Centre. Give to Sound Futures by 30 April 2015 so that we can secure this vision.

DONATE TO SOUND FUTURES TO BRING EVEN MORE OF THE CREATIVITY AND ADVENTURE THAT AUDIENCES EXPECT FROM LONDON PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA PERFORMANCES Our award-winning concerts have a reputation for artistic intelligence; our seasons draw thought-provoking connections; our performances leave audiences captivated,

spellbound and inspired. Beethoven and Mahler wrote music for the ages, but placing them with Nono, Schoenberg, Julian Anderson and Magnus Lindberg requires audacity, talented

musicians and investment in rehearsal and development. Give to Sound Futures by 30 April 2015 so that audiences can enjoy more of our visionary programming.

DONATE TO SOUND FUTURES TO ENABLE US TO PRODUCE MORE LANDMARK COLLABORATIONS WITH SOUTHBANK CENTRE, OUR WORLD CLASS HOME Building on the awardwinning The Rest is Noise (2013), venue and orchestra will work together to curate festivals and celebrations on a grand scale – always with extraordinary

music-making at their heart. We will present majestic performances of opera with the world’s great singers, harnessing our operatic pedigree for London’s concert audiences.

Give to Sound Futures by 30 April 2015 to realise this vision with our Southbank Centre home.

YOUR INVESTMENT IN OUR SOUND FUTURE OUR THANKS TO YOU Donors will be acknowledged for the next 25 years in one concert programme each season and online. Those giving over £500 will be listed in all concert programmes for Royal Festival Hall performances over this period. Gifts of any size are valued and will help us to reach our target of £1 million.

£1 to £999 Pritchard Donors £1,000+ Haitink Patrons £5,000+ Solti Patrons

£10,000+ £25,000+ £50,000+

Tennstedt Circle Welser-Möst Circle Masur Circle

ADDED VALUE FOR YOU Every endowment gift received before 30 April 2015 will be matched pound for pound. Whether or not we reach our target you can be assured that each pound you give will be matched immediately by government funds and start generating interest for the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Donations can be made in full or in instalments between now and 30 April 2015 if this makes it easier for you to consider making a larger gift.

TAX EFFICIENT, FOR US AND FOR YOU A £1,000 donation will be matched by ACE, making it worth £2,000. If you pay UK tax we can claim Gift Aid, yielding a further £250 for the Orchestra. So a £1,000 donation is worth £2,250. If you pay higher rate taxes your donation could cost you less than this. For example, if you pay tax at 40% you can reclaim the 20% difference on your tax return so the Orchestra receives £2,250 for just a £750 outlay from you – a three to one return on your investment.

OUR PLEDGE TO YOU Your donation will be invested for return but within the risk profile appropriate for the London Philharmonic Orchestra, a registered charity. This restricted endowment fund will be regularly overseen by the Investment Committee of the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
