Since 1/1/2015 LLD has: Saved 220 dogs! Spent $104,204.50 Would not be possible without your support – thank you!

On August 8th, Larissa, Mark, Natalie (Larissa’s twin), Carlos (Natalie’s husband) and Rylee went to their grandmother’s 85th birthday in Alice, TX. Soon after arriving, Natalie noticed a stray dog wandering around looking for food. It was at least 110 degrees outside. Natalie went inside to get water and Larissa followed. The poor dog had a few sips then tried to squeeze inside the tiny water dish  Larissa immediately said she is coming with us. Natalie noticed she must have had puppies recently so we played an audio clip of puppies crying. The momma dog (now Chloe) immediately perked up and led us to all of her puppies (photo above left is when we found them – no food or water). There were 9 in total! Mark went to purchase a crate and we loaded up all 10 dogs for the ride back to Houston. After arriving at 11PM, it took 2 hours to bathe them. Larissa set up the dog room and the freshly bathed dogs all got the best night’s sleep in A/C for the first time (photo above right). They went to the vet that Monday. Rylee helped care for the puppies during her visit and special thanks to Mark for always being such a good partner/helper when Larissa brings home dogs! All of the puppies were adopted in WI on September 20th and Chloe is still with Larissa while she undergoes her treatment for heartworm. Thank you to all who donated towards Chloe and her puppies care!

Barktoberfest Barktoberfest was held on September 27th in Cambridge, WI. We had a great turn out of humans and dogs to support Paddy’s Paws and Lola’s Lucky Day. The students from Kari Johnson’s class that have volunteered with us before were there to sell items and we had several items donated that were raffled off. We even got to see some of our Lola’s Lucky Day Alumni now living the good life in Wisconsin! Thank you to all that came and supported our cause!

Pearland Westside Veterinary Hospital We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with such a great vet hospital. Pearland Westside always provides our pups with excellent service and care! The staff always goes above and beyond to help us and our pups. We are extremely grateful for the discounted pricing we receive – it makes a huge impact on us being able to help more dogs. The kind staff always fits us in even when we bring in pups at the last minute. We communicate with them on almost a daily basis and they are always very organized and on top of things. Thank you Westside for all you do for Lola’s Lucky Day! Our pups love you! And we appreciate all you do for them!

These 4 puppies were saved from a Flea Market in Houston on September 19th. A person was trying to sell them on a side of the road in 100 degree heat with no shade, food or water. One of our volunteers, Courtney, stopped to rescue the puppies. (Above left photo is after Courtney stopped and reprimanded them for no shelter, they placed the for sale poster on the kennel for shade). They were immediately taken to Pearland Westside Animal Hospital, where Dr. Cupples estimated they were only 4 weeks old and had hookworms, roundworms, coccidia and ringworms. Their prognosis was bleak as they weighed only 1 lb. each, were in terrible health, and were too young to know how to eat or drink on their own. They were given medication and taken into foster care where they have undergone some much needed TLC. They were bottle fed at first and have since learned to eat on their own! We are happy to report that JJ, Mariposa, Cornelius and Pepper are doing great now! They are putting on weight and growing healthy. They will be in foster care for several more weeks while we continue to monitor their status and work with them. Thank you to our volunteer Emme for naming them!
