THE MULTIDIMENSIONAL VECTURA Warehouses are designed around loadhandling demands. For instance, cranes may feed order-picking systems based on gravity-fed pick locations. In such applications, the Vectura can tilt its forks (or other load-handling device) to interface smoothly with the gravity conveyors. Single deep stacking, ie one pallet in depth on each side of the aisle, gives individual access to all loads and allows for high throughput. In many warehouses however, a higher storage density is required. The strength and flexibility of the Vectura design means that it can handle standard pallets (ie full size and weight) in double and even triple deep configurations. It is preferable if the same SKU can be held in both front and rear slots and if FIFO is not strict but within a window; where necessary, individual access is still possible by re-shuffling loads to reach the rear pallet first. Finally there is the temperature dimension: many Vecturas operate in cold stores typically down to about -34ยบC (-29ยบF).
