TWO OF THREE ON THE ROAD LMU picked up its first two WCC victories of the season in back-toback road contests at Pepperdine and Pacific before dropping a hardfought four-point game at Saint Mary’s to close out a three-game road trip. During the three-game span, the Lions have hit a collective 51 percent from the field, 41 percent from three and 81 percent from the free-throw line. Four Lions have averaged double figures during the stretch including Hazel Ramirez (18 ppg), Sophie Taylor (16 ppg), Deanna Johnson (15.5 ppg) and Leslie Lopez-Wood (14 ppg). Ramirez has also dished 7.7 apg and gone 24-for-27 (88.9 percent) from the free-throw line while Lopez-Wood has hit 10-of-23 (43.5 percent) from deep. Johnson’s numbers are also impressive as she has totaled 31 points in just 36 total minutes of action (one game missed due to injury and limited minutes due to foul trouble). FREE THROW STREAK Hazel Ramirez enters Thursday’s game against Gonzaga having hit 23 consecutive free throws. The streak began with her last two attempts at Pepperdine on Jan. 11 and continued through the Pacific (13-for-13) and Saint Mary’s (8-for-8) games last week. The LMU record for consecutive made free throws is 38, held by Alex Cowling (Dec. 10, 2011-Jan. 7, 2012, 7 games).
