Kids in grades 1-5 can have a night of fun for less than the cost of sitter at Kids Rock from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Friday at the Denton Civic Center, 321 E. McKinney St. The event features a live DJ, sports tournaments, a bounce house, Wii games and Rock Band on a giant screen, dance contests and more. During the school in-service day on Monday, students in kindergarten through sixth grade can enjoy supervised activities and field trips in Kids’ Day Off. New sessions of indoor swim lessons for all ages begin next week at the Denton Natatorium, 2400 Long Road. Lessons are available on Monday and Wednesday evenings with eight lessons per session, or on Saturday mornings with four lessons per session. Discover Enchanted Rock, a national natural landmark on Big Sandy Creek north of Fredericksburg, during a 4mile backpacking trip on Oct. 2021. The $100 fee includes entrance to the park, a primitive camping site, most meals and most camping equipment.
