But I shall correct this want of enlightenment with this book, written as a preliminary guide for those who are not wizened in the ways of Lovecraft’s monsters. This primer will act as your tour guide to the various denizens found in the literary creations of Lovecraft. You can safely experience and know these creatures without the dangers that have befallen other readers. This primer is much akin to the Necronomicon, a tome that lists and details the monsters of Lovecraft; but unlike the Necronomicon, this book hopefully will not cause you to seek the asylum of a sanitarium. Excuse my tone if I am scaring or alarming you, kind reader. H. P. Lovecraft was a horror writer of the top magnitude, and, as such, you should be aware of the terrors that can await, hidden within the written word upon a paper page or electronic screen. I merely wish to inform, not alarm. I shall leave the disquieting exhortations for those of you who continue reading this, my collection of data, or those who dare to venture on and peruse some dreadful tale of Lovecraft.
