A new Convention Center, the largest in the country, is attracting millions of visitors to trade shows and public events. New hotel and motel facilities have risen and others are being planned in the near future.
The 40-story Erieview Tower --- soaring over a vast plaza with reflecting pool and ice-skating rink --- is the keystone of the burgeoning Erieview area. It has been joined by the Cuyahoga Savings Building, General Electric Computer Center and other companions in symmetry. The lucent exterior of the 32-story Federal Building is nearing completion. The growing steel patterns of the Chesterfield apartment building are striating the sky. In the words of French Banker Baron Guy Rothschild, "Cleveland seems to be the center of everything --- the Erieview rebuilding is fantastic." The development of the downtown St. Vincent area is equally dramatic. New public housing has been constructed. The Boy Scouts of America headquarters is in operation.
