Technology has given man a euphoric sense of speed, to the point where he has lost a sense of his own body and being. We no longer feel our tiredness nor our age; we seem to have lost all sense of limitations. We are beings out of time. As Kundera says, “our age is obsessed with the desire to forget, and by realising that desire, we have been thrown to the raging demon of speed”. It is important to stop, to remember, to feel our own bodies and to recognise the sensations of others. A good way to live a happy life is one “where mankind rediscovers slowness, and the benefits of the passing of seasons... respectful again to the spontaneity of our local customs.”
