Time - such a small word in size, an d yet it abounds in meaning. One of the hardest duties of life is to make the m ost of the time you have righ t now. The Clock of Life ticks constantly. W e have no control over its powerful hands. They wait for no one; therefo re, it is important that we live each m oment to the fullest.

It is useless to fret over our failures of yesterday. We should make them stepping stones toward our successes of today and tomorrow. As Longinus stated, "In great attempts it is glorious even to fail."

Howard Harry Z uhlke 10 / Introduction

Most dedications recognize those who build in a spectacular way but ignore those who build as firmly and meticulously - but in a silent way. The senior class of 1976-77 feels proud in dedicating this year's Calciid to a silent "builder," Mr. Howard Harry Zuhlke. Howard, the name by which he is affectionately known by the campus community, has been a cu todian at Limestone College since July 1971. Howard is a handyman who does almost everything in his responsibilities with the maintenance department of the college. There are very few people in our hectic society who can have an honest smile all the time; Howard is one such man. Not only the senior class of 1976-77, but the entire Limestone College community feels proud to have Mr. Howard Harry Zuhlke on our campus.

There is no way that we could tell you how much work goes into the making ofa yearbook. All of the things that were a part of producing this yearbook - copy, cudines, layouts, picas, deadlines , and pictures - will be remembered by us for quite a while. We hope that we have been successful in our attempt to give you a tangible reminder to reinforce the memories that you have made at Limestone.

Modern harvesting machines bear little resemblance to the hand tools our ancestors used. Thanks to technology, methods have changed for the better and will continue to change in the future. But they necessarily will be based on natural laws which never change. W hat one plants, one will harvest ... in the field, and throughout h uman existence.

~

We congratulate you on your graduation. Whatever your career may be, we wish you many bountiful harvests in the years to come.

206 / Conclusion

Limestone. Cherished Limestone

n Southern Carolina, Beneath the pine tree's cone, T.here stands my A lma M ater, My dear, my fair Limestone, 'Tis there my mem'ry lingers, And naught can qu ite compare, To the hours I spent at L imestone, At Limestone, dear and fair. CHORUS Oh Limestone, cherished Limestolle, I love thy classic halls: Oh Limestone, fairest L imestone, I love thy sacred walls; Thy name I crown with honor, And I shall ever give To thee a heart's devotion. As long as I shall live. The hours of life flow swiftly, And change must come to all; Our friendship must be severed ~-=~o::-=:;=;=~=:::;;=~~::;;;::-=:=- To an wer duty's call; But mem'ries never perish, And that of fair Limestone Must be with me forever, The brightest, sweetest one.
