kids-friendly adventures in cabo Cabo is abundant with land and water sports, which makes it an ideal destination for kids. Many of the resorts offer Kids’ Clubs featuring organized, fun activities, as well as baby-sitting and nanny services.

As a family, Medano Beach area is the best place to swim and try a variety of activities. Here, kids can learn how to snorkel, boogie board, surf, sail and kayak. The marina is a great place to catch a ride to Land’s End in a glass-bottom boat. You’ll be mesmerized by the colorful panorama of sea life below your feet. Swimming with the dolphins is an experience that all our guests have enjoyed especially the kids. All the dolphins at the Cabo facility are either rescued or born in captivity. Take a boat tour to Chileno Bay and snorkel in a cove resplendent with tropical fish. If you’re new to the sport, the captain and crew will give you the guidance you need to snorkel comfortably and confidently in crystal clear, protected waters. You can also drive to Chileno Bay and spend the day at the beach. Younger children will have a great time building sand castles and splashing about in the water, older kids can snorkel, or kayak around the reefs with Mom or Dad in a kayak built for two. They no longer rent this equipment at the beach so this has to be set up in advance through your concierge. On land, visit Parque Ballena in San José del Cabo, a half-hour drive from downtown Cabo San Lucas, with water fountains for running through, plenty of swings and jungle gyms, and lots of room to goof around and just be a kid. Up the block is the Caddyshack Mini Golf at the Rusty Putter. Children will have a fantastic time making new four-legged friends horseback riding. In the Corridor, Cuadra San Francisco offers trail and beach rides on well-trained horses that are appropriate for any level of experience. Lessons in dressage and horsemanship are also available.

Lifestyle a la Carte When you decide to take your family to Cabo for a vacation to remember, here are some ways to turn it into an รก la carte experience.

6 | LIFESTYLE | Jan. - Apr. 2011

Great food is an important element of any vacation, so why not enjoy it in style? If you’re staying in a luxury villa, take advantage of the gourmet kitchen, high-end appliances and the broad range of cooking equipment. Make yourself at home and prepare your favorite meals, while enjoying the ocean view. If you’d rather relax by the pool and have a professional cooking staff prepare your meals for you, you’ll have a wide array of options to choose from.

Scrumptious breakfast and lunch—now serving! Start the day off right. Enjoy a casual breakfast with Mexican specialties, pancakes, waffles, tropical fresh fruit, freshly squeezed juices and much more in the comfort of your villa. A private cook will arrive early to have the coffee brewing by the time you get up, will serve your breakfast and leave the kitchen impeccably clean afterwards. Sounds like a good start of a day? That’s life Cabo-style. How about lunch on your terrace? Enchiladas, quesadillas, ceviche… all without even lifting a finger. Have a professional cook prepare a variety of your favorite Mexican dishes, while you take in the serenity and beauty of your Cabo surroundings. The kids will also be happy to have you all to themselves, as they munch on their own favorites and maybe even try some new and exciting foods a la mexicana.

Happy hour by the pool Imagine having a personal bartender serve your poolside margaritas or accompany you in an evening of entertaining, where you can enjoy yourself and let the professional handle the cocktails. Wouldn’t that be fun?

Gourmet dinner in the comfort of your villa Come dinner time, why not experience something special without ever leaving your villa. A high-end catering service may be just the way to go. Whether you fancy an intimate soiree on the beach or an elegant meal in your dining room, professional chefs and waiting staff will turn your kitchen into a gourmet restaurant. Enjoy a carefully selected wine list to accompany your meal and allow your senses to be delighted by the entire experience. So, next time you’re in Cabo, enjoy your meals in style!

Cabo for Families All the Fun You Can Have

Now that it’s time to start planning this year’s Spring Break holiday, you may enjoy this glimpse into Los Cabos’ family-friendly activities – a side of our destination you probably didn’t even know about. In addition to great water and land activities, such as swimming with dolphins, snorkeling, whale watching, or horseback riding, you will also find a variety of fun cultural activities for the entire family. Take your family on a fun and culturally enriching day trip to the historic town of Candelaria or the art colony of Todos Santos. Mingle with the locals at one of the community events to experience Cabo from a different perspective. Check out our calendar of events on page 10.

Museums

Performing Arts While the impressive project for a cultural pavilion at the Cabo San Lucas Marina is still on the drawing board, there are other great venues hosting ongoing cultural events. The City Theater in San Jose del Cabo regularly presents dance performances, concerts, movie screenings for children and even Broadway shows! Casa de la Cultura (Cultural Center) in downtown San Jose also offers a busy performance schedule featuring local, national and international artists. There, you can attend a flamenco show, an original play or an evening of poetry. Admission for most events is free.

The Museum of Natural History in Cabo San Lucas located on the Amelia Wilkes Plaza is yet another fascinating place sometimes overlooked by locals and tourists. The museum is open during the week from 10 AM to 7 PM, Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM and Sundays only in the afternoon. Admission is free. Just recently a new non-profit organization established the Cabo Kidz Museo, whose goals are to plan, design, construct and operate an interactive bilingual children’s museum in Los Cabos. During the planning and construction phases, Cabo Kidz Museo is offering bilingual workshops, trips and events that are fun, educational and stimulating. Contact them for current events at cabokidsmuseo@yahoo.com.
