SEPTEMBER IS A TRANSITIONAL MONTH SIGNIFYING FRESH STARTS AND NEW BEGINNINGS. It is also one of the most anticipated times for fashion with a first look at style trends and predictions for the upcoming year. Belgian fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg said, "Style is something each of us already has, all we need to do is find it." In this issue of Tulsa Lifestyle, we feature an array of fashion and style choices for you to consider as we head into the fall and winter months. For our annual fashion photo shoot, we went to Saks Fifth Avenue in Utica Square to feature the season’s hottest looks straight from the runways. We also talked with fashion blogger Miss Southern to find out how to combine city chic with a little country. And, we visited BMW of Tulsa to learn about one of the hottest new convertibles on the market which is sure to get you to where you’re going in style. You may want to leave the magazine open to this page so that your significant other gets an early hint for holiday gifts.
CORPORATE TEAM CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER Steven Schowengerdt CHIEF SALES OFFICER Matthew Perry
As you flip through the pages, you’ll also see stories about home style including the latest types of tile and stone, and how to ready your landscape and trees for the winter months. Whether you consider yourself a connoisseur of fashion or a casual admirer, style is a way of showing who you are without having to say a thing. We hope you enjoy the stories in this issue and wish you the best in this warm and sunny

DESIGNERS BRING BACK SOPHISTICATION AND POLISH WITH A TOUCH OF SPARKLE

Tulsa Lifestyle | September 2019
All fashions from Saks Fifth Avenue. Lafayette 148 Silver Sage Python Dress, $998; Jimmy Choo Suede Boots, model's own.
FALL FASHION FOR 2019 TRANSPORTS US FROM MORE CONCEPTUAL CONCEPTS TO A STYLE CODE PAYING HOMAGE TO THE LATE ‘70S AND EARLY ‘80S. Vogue magazine says that looks will include more refined silhouettes with skirtcum-culottes, blazers, sharply pleated trousers, tailoring and trench coats. The key is creating coherent looks with precise cuts. Tulsa fashion maven and design manager at Saks Fifth Avenue, Amanda Viles, agrees. “The vibe on the runways is a great mix of sexy effortlessness and precision luxury. A lot of leathers, python prints, rich neutrals and metallics paired with heritage scarf prints, capes and satchel bags. It’s a very ‘rich’ looking season that’s ladylike but also edgy,” said Viles. Each season, Saks’ fashion directors in New York City create an “It List,” outlining the trends as seen during fashion week and all the runway shows. Roopal Patel, Saks’ senior vice president and fashion director says that designers are bringing the glamour with something chic for every woman. THE “IT LIST” FOR WOMEN: + Scarf Prints & Capes - traditional prints and silhouettes make a comeback + Everyday Leather - full leather-on-leather looks are better together + Python Print - this embossed look instantly upgrades any look + Heavy Metal - gleaming metallic reinvented for everyday + The Satchel - the ultimate modern-day bag gets reinvented for right now + The Minimal Bag - clean lines compliment the season’s refined tailoring + The Tall Boot - the shoe of the season comes in an array of colors and textures + The Combat Boot - cargo pockets and fresh hardware deliver a ‘90s inspired edge + The New Neutrals - a palette of cream, camel and burgundy allows for luxe versatility + Crystal Clear - sleek silhouettes meet dazzling embellishments + Precision Tailoring WOMEN’S PIECES TO BUY NOW: 1. Leather – Trousers, pants, blazers and pleated skirts. For a double dose of the fall trend, find your new leather pieces in a metallic color. 2. Metallic – A favorite and fun fabric to incorporate into your wardrobe. Don’t be afraid to add some sparkle to your daytime looks with deep rich metallics in grey, black or burgundy. 3. Boots – Always a fall must have. Viles recommends the tall boot in a rich suede because it is timeless, sophisticated, and classic but also sexy. Lafayette 148 Heritage Gold Skirt, $598; Lafayette 148 Cashmere Oversized Sweater, $648; Lamarque Leather Donna Jacket, $595; Prada Suede Boots, model’s own.

USING BOTOX FOR TMJ RELIEF FROM HEAD AND JAW PAIN
WHEN YOU HEAR SOMEONE SAY THEY’VE HAD BOTOX®, YOU EXPECT TO SEE SMOOTH EYES OR MAYBE SOME FROZEN FOREHEADS. While Botox is most popular for smoothing away fine lines and wrinkles, it’s also widely used for pain management for an ailment that affects millions of people - temporomandibular joint dysfunction, better known as TMJ. If you’ve ever heard someone complain of TMJ pain, he or she could be referring to a wide variety of issues related to pain in the jaw area. The majority of TMJ patients experience pain due to grinding or clenching their teeth, usually subconsciously, during sleep or while awake. Botox works by relaxing the overworked and often inflamed muscles in your jaw and head. When the muscles can calm down, many see a vast improvement in their quality of sleep and daily life. They usually report fewer headaches, less jaw and temple pain and better oral health. If you’re a teeth grinder, sometimes your teeth can be so ground down that they expose the nerves inside them, causing extreme pain. By using Botox to stop the grinding motion from occurring in the first place, you can prevent damage and save your teeth from needing extensive work in the future. If you suffer from headaches or jaw pain and want fast relief, Botox may be the answer. Procedures last just a few
