NEW BOOK TEASERS

A Song for the Dying Stuart MacBride “A heart-stopping crime thriller from the author of three consecutive No. 1 bestsellers, including Birthdays for the Dead and the DI Logan McRae series.” He’s back… Eight years ago ‘The Inside Man’ murdered four women and left three more in critical condition – all of them with their stomachs slit open and a plastic doll stitched inside. And then the killer just … disappeared.

Tempting Fate Jane Green When Gabby first met Elliott she knew he was the man for her. In twenty years of marriage she has never doubted her love for him - even when he refused to give her the one thing she still wants most of all. But now their two daughters are growing up Gabby feels that time and her youth are slipping away. For the first time in her life she is restless. And then she meets Matt… Consumed by regret, Gabby does everything she can to repair the home she has broken. But are some betrayals too great to forgive? Reviews sourced from

REVIEWS FROM OUR READERS

The School Inspector Calls! Gervase Phinn What a lovely read from an author who really knows his subject (primary schools - UK) and writes about it with charm and wit. Great characters, both adults and children, who really come alive in the hands of Gervase Phinn. All the trials and tribulations of small country schools are dealt with a sharp eye tempered with humour. I am keenly looking forward to reading more from this English author. -Reviewed by Roger

Head Shot

First Thrills

Quintin Jarine

Lee Childs

Another great detective story from this author. This time the lead Scottish detective is in America showing them how to go about solving three murders. Meanwhile, back in Edinburgh, his team of police have their own problems. Jardine keeps all the threads of these stories in his hand and you are never left thinking 'who was that now?' Very clever construction, good characters and a great twisting and turning yarn. Highly recommended.

There were not very many memorable moments in this book. The brevity of the stories made them quite superficial with an inevitable and somewhat predictable twist. I did not complete it and found the stories to be only mildly interesting. They did not have the time to develop the characters which made them quite bland. All the stories had a twist toward the end so you ended up waiting, predicting what it might be so this took a lot of the enjoyment out of the book.
