Kate Bell-Keierleber, Head Softball Coach Kate Bell-Keierleber enters her first season as the head softball coach at LeTourneau. She brings a wealth of experience and accolades from UT-Tyler. The native of Forney, Texas, was named to the 2008 All-American Southwest Conference East Division and conference all-tournament team. Bell-Keierleber’s accomplishments continued into her senior year with all-conference first-team and all-region honorable mention honors as a senior as the Lady Patriots advanced to the NCAA Division III College World Series and finished fifth in the country. Prior to her final two collegiate years at UT-Tyler, Bell spent two seasons at HardinSimmons where she was named All-ASC West

Division, All-ASC All-Tournament Team catcher, All-NFCA All-Region, Team Defensive MVP and Team Leadership as a sophomore. As a freshman, she hit four home runs. In her final season at UT-Tyler, the first baseman/designated player hit .338 in games with 45 hits, 40 RBIs, 21 runs scored, was second on the team in homers with 14 and finished with four doubles. Prior to stepping into the head coach’s role, Bell-Keierleber served as LeTourneau’s top assistant coach during the 2010 and 2011 seasons. She helped oversee LeTourneau’s most successful season in program history in 2011, which included the Jackets’ first-ever wins over eventual region champion UT Tyler.

Keith Bell, Assistant Softball Coach Keith Bell joins the YellowJackets for the 201112 season after coming from Division II Ouachita Baptist University, where he has served as an assistant coach since 2009. “We are fortunate to have someone of Keith’s caliber join our staff,” Kate Bell said. “He will bring valuable leadership experience as well a solid philosophy on the fundamentals of softball.” Bell began coaching for the Forney Youth Softball Association in 1991 and began coaching with the Texas Travelers Girls’ Fast pitch Organization in 2002. He coached at the University of Texas at Tyler from 2006 to 2009 where he coached in two ASC Conference Tournaments, two NCAA Regional tournaments and a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championships in 2009. He was also a member of the 2009 Co-Coaching Staff of the Year in Division III Softball. In addition to his 15 years of coaching softball, Keith Bell

is also the president and CEO of Intex Electrical Contractors, Inc. in Forney and owner of the KB Cattle Company in Wills Point. Bell was the founder and past president of the Forney Education Leadership Foundation, a member of the Forney Economic Development Corporation, a member of the Mesquite Lions Club, chairman of the Texas Electrical Safety and Licensing Advisory Board and the current President of the Forney ISD Board of Trustees. In the 2010 season, the Tigers finished with a program best 36-24 season while earning a berth to the GSC Conference Tournament and setting single season records in hits, doubles, homeruns, runs scored, and RBI’s. In 2011, OBU earned their third consecutive appearance to the GSC Conference Tournament with a third-place finish in the GSC West and a program-record six All GSC Team selections.

Tony Fitzgerald, Assistant Softball Coach Tony Fitzgerald joins the LeTourneau coaching staff for the 2011-12 season. He comes to LETU with 15 years of coaching experience in the private sector. After Fitzgerald completed his baseball career at the University of Texas at Arlington, he began coaching softball in the Forney Youth Association. In 1998 he began giving private hitting and pitching instruction and started coaching select softball in 2001. As an instructor, Fitzgerald has traveled all over the US learning different coaching styles, techniques,

philosophies, and training methods for hitting, slapping, and pitching. In addition to coaching, Fitzgerald served on the Forney Parks and Recreation board from 2000-2009, he was one of the founding members of the Metro East Softball Association where he served as either Vice President or President from 2002-2009, and he served on the Forney ISD Board of Trustees from 20062009. Tony and his wife Brandie have 2 daughters, Micah and Linsey.
