Bath sluggers sweep Redskins and Pirates

BATH — Bath baseball continues to dominate league competition, sweeping doubleheaders from Saranac and Fulton to give the Bees a 6-0 record in the CMAC. Bath ace Nick Stiles was perfect through four innings in the opener against Saranac, striking out 12 Redskins in a 16-0 win April 25. The game was shortened under the mercy rule. Brodie Megill delivered a grand slam for the Bees, going 2-for-3 at the plate, scored three runs and driving in four. Bath freshman Ryan Orr went 2-for-3. Austin Townsend was 1-for-1 with a double. Brenden Plemmons was the winning pitcher in the nightcap, a 6-2 win. He struck out seven and held the Redskins to four hits. Orr was 2-for-2. double and scored twice. Plemmons was the winning pitcher in Bath’s 8-0 shutout win over Fulton in the April 21 doubleheader opener. He had five strikeouts. Megill went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles. Townsend was 2-for-4 with a double. Mike Mills was 2-for-4 with a triple. Stiles was the winning pitcher in the 14-0 Bath win in the nightcap. He struck out seven and gave up three hits in the five-inning game that was shortened under the mercy rule. Grant Svendsen was 2-for-4 at the plate with two doubles. Megill was 3-for-4. Mills went 2-for-3 with a triple. Bath picked up a pair of nonleague wins at the Grass Lake Invitational April 23, beating Burton Bentley 16-0 and Grass Lake 10-1. Orr was the winning pitcher against Burton Bentley, allowing one hit. Orr went 3-for-4 and scored twice. Stiles and Mills each had triples. Megill struck out 12 in the win over Grass Lake in the second game of the tournament. Stiles went 2-for-3 with a double. Townsend was 2-for-4 with a double and scored twice. The Bees have a 10-0 overall record.
