Parsons, a freshman, also took second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.76. Parsons also runs on the 4x100 relay team that finished second with a season-best time of 41.71.
SPORTS BRIEFS DEWITT — Panther baseball swept a doubleheader from
nonleague East Lansing April 21, beating the Trojans 3-1 in the opener and 15-6 in the nightcap. DeWitt junior Austin Rusnell was the winning pitcher in the opener, holding the Trojans to four hits. Rusnell also delivered the big blast for the Panthers, smashing a threerun homer in the first inning. He went 2-for-3 at the plate. DeWitt senior Ian Yetsko was the winning pitcher in the nightcap. Yetsko helped himself to the win with a grand slam homer. The Panther bats were lively in the nightcap. Rusnell went 4-for-4 with a double. John-Michael Moody, a DeWitt freshman, went 2-for-4 and blasted a home run.

EAST LANSING — DeWitt softball came up short
against nonleague East Lansing, losing the opener 1-0 and falling in the nightcap 8-3 April 21. Panther sophomore Michelle Jonas took the loss in the opener, allowing only five hits. DeWitt’s Kaylie Stripling, another sophomore, had two of the Panthers four hits. Natasha DeLine was the losing pitcher in the nightcap. She allowed six hits. Martha Brushaber, a junior, went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs. The Panthers have a 2-6 overall record.
