Ways to Help You Pay Lifetime Learning Credit

You may be able to claim a Lifetime Learning tax credit through your federal tax return for qualified education expenses paid for all students in your household enrolled in postsecondary education. The amount of lifetime learning credit is 20% of the first $10,000 of qualified education expenses you paid for all eligible students in your household. The credit is available for out-of-pocket tuition and fees for one or more courses – part-time or full-time status is not required. Qualified individuals or households must have a modified adjusted gross income of $60,000 or less for individuals, and $120,000 or less for joint filers. This credit is non-refundable. The above information is based on IRS information available for 2010 tax filings. Changes in tax code may occur. Please consult a qualified tax advisor for full details.
