Notice is given in terms of Listing Notice 1 & 3 of the Regulations published on 18 June 2010 in Government Notice R544 & R546, of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No 107 of 1998) that the Environmental Assessment Practitioner is conducting a public participation process on behalf of Tsitsikamma Forest Village Trust, for the submittal of a Basic Assessment Report to the Eastern Cape Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism for the following activity as identified in terms of Section 24(2) and 24D: Activity listed under GN R544: Activity 13- The construction of facilities or infrastructure for the storage and handling of a dangerous good, where such storage occurs in containers with a combined capacity of 80 but not exceeding 500 cubic metres. It is proposed that 450 cubic metres of fuel is to be stored on site. Activity 18- The infilling or depositing of any material of any material of more than 5 cubic metres into, or the excavation or moving of soil from (i) a watercourse. Stormwater on the site will be re-directed. Activity 23(ii) - The development of vacant or undeveloped land outside urban areas larger than 1ha but less than 20 ha. The area to be developed for the filling station is 1.3181ha. Activity listed under GN R546: Activity 4- The construction of a road 8m wide with a reserve of 12m in an area situated within 10km from national parks or 5km from other protected areas. The site is situated within 5km of the following protected areas: Garden Route National Park and Tsitsikamma MPA and 10km within Hebron Private Nature Reserve and Formosa Provincial Nature Reserve. Activity 10 (a) (ii) (gg) - The construction of facilities or infrastructure for the storage and handling of a dangerous good, where such storage occurs in containers with a combined capacity of 30 but not exceeding 80m3 (a) in the Eastern Cape (ii) outside urban areas (gg) areas within 10km of National Parks or World Heritage sites or 5km from any other protected area identified in terms of NEMPAAor from the core of a biosphere reserve. Activity 13- The clearance of an area of 1ha or more of vegetation where 75% or more of the vegetation cover constitutes indigenous vegetation in (i) in the Eastern Cape (ii) outside urban areas (ff) areas within 10km of National Parks or World Heritage sites or 5km from any other protected area identified in terms of NEMPAAor from the core of a biosphere reserve.
