2008 Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open Notes After holding the 36- and 54-hole leads, Scott Piercy claimed his first Nationwide Tour victory by two strokes over Daniel Summerhays, Hunter Haas, and Spencer Levin, setting a new tournament record of 262 (22-under) in the process. Levin holed a 45-foot birdie putt at the 17th to momentarily pull within one stroke of Piercy, who seconds later, converted his own 20-footer for birdie to maintain his two-stroke lead and cruise to victory.

Scott Piercy set tournament records for 36 holes (126, 16-under), 54 holes (191, 22-under), and 72 holes (262, 22-under). Mike Standly had not played in the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open since the inaugural event in 1990, where he tied for 16th and earned $1,575. In his return appearance Standly shot 76-73 to miss the cut. Wichita State basketball coach Gregg Marshall caddied for David Schultz in the final round when Schultz’s caddie failed to show up. Schultz shot 71 and tied for 43rd.
