Welcome lovely readers to Issue 11. And if you’re a new reader .. we are so glad you have found us. Welcome aboard. I received this email during the week..
“A friend of mine introduced me to your magazine, initially on ISSUU, and I was completely overwhelmed with how amazing it was so I obviously came to your website today and find it still so exciting as all the stuff you publish, is stuff I am so passionate about but didn’t know where to look for inspiration.” ~Charlotte. And it made my day. Actually it made my week. In this time poor, fast paced digital world where we scroll fast and often don’t linger long enough to leave a comment or take the time to email someone personally to say, hey, you’re doing a good job or I really love your work.. it struck a chord with me that Charlotte (who I don’t know) would make the time to email me. And I am very, very thankful for all the comments and likes and interaction I get on all social media platforms for Jot. It’s very satisfying to know Jot is doing okay and also to hear from you all. WE ARE LUCKY DUCKS HERE AT JOT HQ. To celebrate the arrival of the Heidi Swapp Minc machine in Australian Spotlight stores, some of us received the generous gift of the machines and Minc-able products to try out. I must admit, I have become a little obsessive in adding foil to everything lately and there is truly this magical moment - cue the angels singing - when you peel the foil back to reveal the new shiny, shimmery design. Take a look at our Minc story + projects here on page 96. IT’S A BUMPER ISSUE THIS TIME AROUND. I had a tough time fitting all the content into place because the Jot Girls had been extra busy so I just decided to just keep adding pages! And before I knew it.. the issue was almost 200 pages long! I’ve pared it down a little but it’s still bursting at the seams with so much goodness and inspiration on every Single. Digital. Page. Inside this edition we also have our Mixed Media, Just My Type and Story Telling galleries plus a new feature called Jot Recipes. Oh and Shari is back.. always entertaining, she shares her latest family stories in Dear Diary on page 190.

With a little baby boy at home, life has changed and it’s hard to find spare time for creating these days. So quick and easy layouts are perfect to keep memories, relax and just create in small bursts of time!
This is a 9x12 inch sized layout and this year I have decided to make a lot of them to fill the album for Andrea with all his best photos. I started from a 4x6 inch picture and then covered it with a 3x4 journal card and many other printables. I like adding my journaling in many different ways: with stamps, phrases stickers and even writing on the picture using Photoshop before printing my images. I literally adore to fill my pages with a lot of details like sequins, buttons, threads and printables. Add a few random ink splatters to your patterned paper for a fun look.

YOUR CHALLENGE: Your challenge this issue is to create a layout starting with a single 4x6 inch photo and work directly on and around the photo by layering on your elements. Share your work on our facebook page here.
Concentrate on layering your photo/embellishments in the bottom half of your layout, leaving the top half almost free from content for a clean, fresh and uncluttered look.
Print your journaling directly onto your photo.
Add a cluster of buttons, thread and stickers to add dimension and interest to your layout.

Anna Allan - The Jot Team I had so many potential designs going through my head for this theme with a few options of text papers, fonts etc I could choose from. In the end, I decided to create my own background with old book paper. I simply pasted down the book pages onto the cardstock and when dry, I peeled the loose non-adhered edges off to create a torn appearance. I used a white mini ink pad and swiped it over the edges to make it meld into the white background. I ‘grunged’ it up further by adding stencilled letters with texture paste, bronze and navy ink splatters, and grid stamping. I kept the photo panel relatively simple so as not to overcrowd the page too much and so the background still had its chance to shine.

White Space take time out

I chose to do recipe number 3. I didn’t have a cut file but I loved the idea of taking two black and white photos and hitting it with the aqua and orange colours. I had wanted to use these two photos and tell a short story. I’ve been trying very hard these last few weeks to take time out for me. Being a mum of four is a challenge but even after only two weeks of trying I can see the results. Gradually. Taking time out. It’s okay.

Sharmaine Kruijver - The Jot Team Wanting to capture a water feel, I dropped water onto the cardstock. Once it was dry I swirled three different coloured inks onto the dried splots. I then watered down some white paint and painted on the white circle and droplets. Mixed media, to me, is all about playing and that’s what I hope my page encapsulates.

Raquel Bowman - The Jot Team I am quite a clean scrapbooker so when I use mixed media products I use them quite minimally. On this page I added a wash of distress ink, a layer of white whipped spackle through a template and some lovely ink splatters. I take a less is more approach when it comes to mixed media.

Jamie Pate - The Jot Team My go to mixed media element right now is using watercolor paper as my base, and then stencil with modelling paste that I color with acrylic paint. Here I have used Heidi Swapp’s texture paste. I love to create my own backgrounds, and when texture is included that is simply a bonus. The colors can be matched up perfectly to the mood that is trying to be created. Plus the photos and embellishments simply pop against the contrast of paint, paste and texture.

Natalie Elphinstone - The Jot Team I’ve come to learn that I prefer straight lines and clean designs, but that doesn’t mean I don’t also enjoy getting a bit messy with some mixed media. For this card I first created my background with texture paste, a stencil and mists for colour. When it was dry I layered my embellishments over the top in straight lines. Loredana Bucaria - The Jot Team I love to play with many different medias to create backgrounds for my pages. I always start from a white sheet of Bazzill cardstock and then I start playing with gesso, modelling paste, spray inks, Neocolors and different kinds of watercolors . I have used a roll stamp to model the gesso and then I have added the modelling paste. Once everything dried then I added water and watercolors. I love little touches here and there and not a full page of colors as I want the picture to keep catching my eye. Another thing I love is adding little details like enamel dots, little words stickers, buttons and ink dots.

Heidi’s MINC MACHINE Heidi Swapp has done it again. I have long admired Heidi’s ability to create totally innovative products and tools for the modern day memory keeper. She seems to always be just ahead of the trends and designing things that make us all think, “ah! How clever!” I remember pouring over Heidi’s pages in the Making Memories Beyond Attachments (a long time ago now!!) book and being astounded that she had used foam stamps on her pages and she had painted metal hinges and embellishments with acrylic paint to give them a shabby look. Those were the days when we were just starting to experiment with mixed media and to actually paint on your page or distress your patterned paper was something that was seen as very progressive and innovative. Fast forward to now and we are all painting, gesso-ing, texture pasting, glittering and screen printing our pages in order to make “pretty” awesome stuff. We are all in search of the next technique to try and the next machine to help us achieve it. Heidi’s latest innovation is the Minc machine. This sleek and stylish machine takes tags, embellishments and papers and turns them into foiled, shiny gorgeous additions for your papery projects. Here at Jot, some of us have been fortunate enough to give the Minc Machine a whirl.

what is a Minc?
The Minc machine is a metallic foil applicator And Heidi has created a stack of products to go with the machine so that you can soon be foiling up a storm in no time at all. The process is simple -- choose your project, slip it into the plastic carrier sheet, choose your heat setting and feed it through the machine. We all agree around here that it’s a pretty awesome feeling peeling back that carrier sheet to reveal your masterpiece. Angels sing. You silently applaud and marvel at how clever you are and you have something pretty amazing to add to your project! The other rather wonderful thing about the Minc machine is that if you have access to a laser printer, the skies the limit when it comes to designing. Whatever you can visualise can become a reality. Print out your design and run it through the machine for instant shimmery embellishments, home decor pieces, party invitations, cupcake toppers, banners.. so many possibilities. This video from Heidi RIGHT HERE helped me enormously when I first received the machine. Heidi has lots of tips on getting started. Rookie mistake from me - I had accidently switched the reverse switch on which is used if you need to reverse the carrier sheet back out of the machine for some reason. Well, try as I might, I couldn’t get the machine to grab onto the carrier sheet and feed it through. Eventually I realised my mistake and soon I was feeding those pieces through the machine like a champ!

There’s nothing like a bit of foil shimmer to add some sparkle to your projects. I used two of the 6x6 inch Heidi Minc papers in floral and polka dot designs and the teal foil to create my background on this layout. I also used gold foil to create the “best ever” circle embellishment and also added a touch of gold foil to a couple of tags. I love how the teal floral paper turned out -- it’s my favourite so far. It’s very hard to photograph so you can appreciate the full shimmery effect of the foil. In real life it’s so shiny and lush.

Kim Archer - The Jot Team This was such a quick project. I love making my own journaling cards for my Project Life pages. And I like to keep it simple. For this project, I chose Heidi’s 3x3 inch cards and foiled them in different colours. I added a small photo per card and some simple journaling strips and embellishments. Anna Allan - The Jot Team I was so elated to receive the Heidi Swapp Minc machine to road-test and absolutely adored all the goodies that come in the range. For this purpose though, I wanted to create something unique to me. The August prompt for Ali Edwards’ workshop ‘One Little Word’ came up and it was all about GRATITUDE. It involved creating cards where you write down what you are grateful for right now. And the idea began to percolate -- I could design my own style of cards and... MINC THEM OF COURSE!! LOL!

life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful Amanda Hall - The Jot Team
I wanted to Minc my own text and add it to a jumbo photo layout. After finding a quote and font that I liked, I printed the text at work, using the work laser printer. Later I Minc-ed the words and finally printed the photo at home on my ink jet printer. It was a multi-step process but I love the finished product and will definitely be doing it again! The soft pink foil is stunning with the sunset hues of the photo and messy chalk powder faces! Photo taken by Georgie Daniels Photography.

These Project Life cards were so much fun to make that the hardest part was working out which foils to play with first! As much as I love gold foil right now, I tried to focus more on the pink and teal, creating these wonderfully feminine pocket cards. Each filler card has a touch of all three colours which will ultimately create cohesion on my overall spread. The 3x3 card set and tags are the perfect combination size to add layers and interest to any Project Life page.

Natalie Elphinstone - The Jot Team There’s always much excitement in the house when a new package of scrapping goodies lands on the doorstep and I don’t just mean from me! Both my girls were super-pumped to hear we had gotten our hands on a Minc machine and of course they wanted to play with it too. Discovering the vast array of embellishments we could chose from and the whole rainbow of foil colours was like Christmas morning and we all immediately chose something to make. I love the Paper Phrases and used the gold foil on the ‘Hello Sunshine’ because I figured that would work best on my beach themed layout. As for the girls... well.... they Minc-ed and Minc-ed until I had to ask them to stop! In the words of my 8-year-old, “it’s just so easy!”

I love that they make such a huge impact on a project. The primary colours, red, green and blue foil was perfect for my LEGO theme and the touch of gold really made my layout shine.

Amanda Hall - The Jot Team Here I have used a lovely floral swirly border brush - one placed above the stripe paper and the same image rotated and placed underneath. I printed these onto my card stock using a laser printer and Minc-ed with the delicious gold foil. The ‘good times’ disc is also Minc-ed - this time in a pink foil.
The word ‘adventure’ was made by foiling a blank Minc sheet gold and using the word as a cut file after it was bought from the American Craft site.

I think red is my favourite coloured foil (I’m just waiting for Heidi to bring out yellow.... wink wink) because it’s so versatile and goes with my boyish layouts so well.

Kim Jeffress - The Jot Team When I first got my Minc machine I went out and bought myself an inexpensive laser printer as I not only wanted to use Heidi’s pre-designed Minc items but I also wanted to be able to create my own designs. For this layout I found an image of Mickey Mouse’s ears online and printed it onto the black and white striped patterned paper with my laser printer. I then ran it through my Minc machine with the yummy red foil. I love the rich feel it brings to my layout and it complements the photo perfectly!

Amanda Hall - The Jot Team I have made this frame for a friend who we are meeting in Paris next month. Again, I printed my photo using an inkjet printer and the text was done with a laser printer. I have also foiled the striped paper in two different foils to make a French flag. I made my own cut file with the words ‘A FRENCH’ on top of an arrow and cut them out of Minc blank sheets. This machine is amazing and adds instant wow to any project.

Natalie Elphinstone - The Jot Team I made my own background paper by stamping and embossing a pattern of strawberries and blackberries before running it through the Minc machine. The once crisp outlines of the fruit melted when they were Minc-ed so you need to make sure you choose an image without too much detail.... or embrace the liquefied look! I then added some water paint for some extra colour and layered on a few embellishments for my sentiment.
The possibilities really are endless with this machine.

Lauren Hender - The Jot Team Together with the Minc and one of Heidi’s Project Life kits I have created this layout to highlight these fabulous photos of me and my amazing family. The Minc 12x12 paper range is fabulous. I have use the black and white stripe paper and pieced off sections of the paper using the hot pink minc foil. This technique highlighted sections of my layout to really give that fabulous Minc glam.

quick steps Step 1: Create some quotes, inspiring words to remember and type them into a Word document in three columns. Then print your document using a toner printer. Step 2: Grab some Minc embellishments. I have used some butterflies, labels, tabs and tags. Step 3: Select your fave Minc foils and using the Minc, foil your selected embellishments and your printed quotes. Step 4: Cut your paper quotes into
three strips and place in the order you wish. Step 5: Using two 6x8 Heidi Swapp patterned papers, fold one piece a quarter from the top and adhere the other sheet to the back. Step 6: Slide your strips of quotes up under the quarter folded patterned paper and secure it in place using a magnetic dog clip. Step 7: Decorate as desired using the embellishments you have created using the Minc. I used a tab to create a pen holder as I am always losing pens.

I was so very grateful to receive the Minc to road test as a Jot Girl. Upon opening the extra goodies there were so many bits and pieces I wanted to Minc! I recently purchased a second hand laser printer and decided to create my own paper design to Minc. The text paper on the right of my layout is one of my favorite song lyrics that makes me think of my little man. I typed it into Photoshop and printed it A4 in size. I then Minc-ed it with the silver foil. I love the effect it gives and know this is a minc technique I will use in the future!

I then printed it on my laser printer and ran it through the Minc with gold foil. I just love how it turned out!

Mardi Winen - The Jot Team I must say...I am totally addicted to the Minc... I have found the possibilities endless...and I love the shine on my projects. I couldn’t stop actually.... This layout used a sheet of the 12x12 paper which I foiled blue... I found that even though its resistant it will take watercolors well with no effect to the foil. I also used some Minc chipboard pieces and a tag.

This is my favourite photo of the week. My son William has been doing Rhee Taekwondo for 2 years. The day this photo was taken he was promoted to brown belt. It was also his little brothers first lesson. Henry and William are six years apart in age. Henry looks up to his older brother and I am proud to say that William is always there for his little bro. The day this photo was taken was a perfect example of their love for each other. Makes a mumma go weak at the knees with love and pride.

And I’ve always hoped to encourage the love of books and reading stories in my kids. I snapped this photo on a trip to Kalgoorlie - our youngest was tucked up into bed at the unit we were staying in, she grabbed a book and switched on the bedside lamp and started flipping through the pages, telling her own kind of story on the way. The cosy sight took me straight back to my younger years, tucked up into bed reading by lamp light.. And I could not miss the chance to snap a piccy of this moment!

Profile of a Project Lifer Leanne lives with her family in Queensland on the northern outskirts of Brisbane. “Mark, my husband of 16 years, often comments on my need to take photos but he and our four children are tolerant, if not resigned to the fact this is what I do!” Leanne says. Although she adds that her daughter Tahlia and three boys Liam, Ethan and Cameron often run when she picks up the camera. What size Project Life are you doing? I have discovered my niche is with 12”x12” Project Life spreads. I used to mix it up and play with different pocket combinations but I have since discovered that it is best for my own sanity to stay with the tried and true Pocket Page Design A. By using Pocket Page Design A, I know immediately as I take photos during the week, how many 4x6 horizontal photos and 3x4 vertical shots I need to complete a weekly spread. I also like to work with colours and textures rather than collections. However, collections do make for easier decisions when it comes to selecting alphas and embellishments. And the colours from the collections of course, will generally combine beautifully with each other.

“I have been dabbling in Project Life for a number of years. It’s always been a world that I’ve wanted to step into but until last year I didn’t have the discipline to just get it done. My first attempt was in 2012. It failed miserably. I’m lucky if I managed to complete 10 – 15 spreads. In 2014, I was given an opportunity to only create Project Life pages for Sassy Scrapper. Having a weekly deadline definitely motivated my process. This is my second “official” year and I am so blessed to find a way to document the minute details of my family.”

Do you have a dedicated Project Life space? I wish I had a designated Project Life space but since I create cards, layouts and off the page projects for other design teams I create with, I really canâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t spare the space.

How long does it take to make a spread? I can generally bring a spread together, if I am organised, within 1-2 hours. I am a relatively simple scrapper and rely heavily on the stories and photos I want to document.
Do you print your photos at home? I edit my photos at home and then print them out at a local department store (Big W here in Australia). When at the photo kiosk, I select the 4x6 photo collage and add my portrait shots directly into the 3x4 designated spaces. I also digitally organise my photos. I create assigned dated weekly files in a Project Life folder. I organise mine in the following system: Pictures > 2015 > Project Life Photos > 01 Jan > Week 1_Jan 1-11.
What camera do you tend to use the most? For Project Life everyday stuff, I use my iPhone 6. A lot. Phone cameras have improved in leaps and bounds and if I’m honest, when I need to upgrade my phone, I always check out the camera capabilities before making a selection! When it comes to action shots or family outings I will take my Nikon D3200.
Do you jot things down through the week or do you have any tips for keeping track of what you have done? Most of the time I will refer to Instagram or Facebook notes when keeping track of my journaling. As I am usually up to date with my Project Life it doesn’t take much for a photo to jog my memory. Where I get tripped up is usually the date a photo was taken. That’s when I need to search out the original shot on either my phone or computer files! I’ve also discovered Momento. It is free iphone app where I can add notes on a daily basis.
What’s the most challenging thing about Project Life? The most challenging part of Project Life for me, is keeping up with the motivation. It only takes a small amount of time to pass by without having the will to document, for me to get caught behind. Some weeks can look much like the last one. Sometimes I will get to the close of the week and I have to remember to take photos. Luckily for me, I always seem to have either my phone or camera easily accessible and that’s when I will start to document my everyday ordinary.

What are your tips for staying organised and up to date? 1. Be motivated to take photos; even if it is just of the mundane, everyday, ordinary stuff! 2. Upload all your digital photos to organised weekly labelled files on you computer. When it comes to printing out your photos, it will save you so much time looking for lost snapshots. Donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t forget to include your photos from your phone in this process. 3. Once your photos have been printed out, slip them directly into their allocated weekly pocket pages, minus all the pretty things. This allows you to be aware of how many filler and title cards will be needed for the remaining pockets.
BONUS TIP : Keep ephemera in a small container or basket close to your Project Life process area. A small storage bin keeps the ephemera from getting too large and it can stay visible, on top of a desk, reminding you of items to be included in your pocket pages.

Mixed media cards are so much fun to make and creating them is more simple than you might think! Here is how you can make one in five easy steps: 1. Add a layer of gesso to a 3x4 or 4x6 cardstock card and let dry. 2. Place a stencil on top of your card and add a thin layer of modelling paste. Use the paste to cover as much of the pattern as you want on your card, whether it is all or just a portion. 3. Once you have your layer of paste smoothed on, remove the stencil and let dry. 4. Now the fun part, start adding some color. I used Neocolor wax pastels (which you can add water to so they work a lot like watercolors) and Pan watercolors on my card. 5. Let dry and then embellish or leave it plain and use as a decorative filler card in one of your pockets!

BELOW | To create this card I used the same steps as I did for ‘The Good Life’ card but I only covered a portion of my stencil with paste. I really love the look of using a smaller portion of the stencil, it just kind of changes it up a bit and it’s fun playing around getting different effects.
Beshka’s Quick Tips You don’t need the paste to be thick, a thin layer is better. A really thick layer tends to crack in my experience. Let each layer dry to avoid your card stock from curling up too much. It will curl some, but once it has been in your pockets for a while it will flatten back out.
ABOVE | To create this card I added a layer of gesso and instead of adding a textured layer to this card I set to work playing with some watercolors. Once dry I used a little mist to create a splatter effect and then I embellished with a die cut word and wood veneer piece that I painted white.

Leanne Allinson For this challenge, I decided I wanted to create Project Life cards that still appealed to my love of colour and white space. Being a clean and simple style scrapper, getting messy was quite daunting. However, once I started playing I found the process less scary and very rewarding! Who knew mixed media could be so much fun!

I am obviously new to the world of mixed media and had to rely heavily on the products I have access to at home. My supplies consisted of mostly pre-made Project Life cards, white paint, gelatos, clear stamps and some very old rub ons. The patterned papers were left over from previous projects, which allowed me to feel comfortable with tearing them.

1. Apply white paint to the centre of a pre-made 3”x 4” inch card. Allow to dry.
2. Punch three different sized circles from patterned paper – 2”, 1” & ¾”. Ink edges with a soft brown. Adhere smallest to largest forming a basic flower shape. NOTE: The 2” circle was punched from an office supply note card/ledger paper and stamped with Kaisercraft clear stamp, Oriental. 3. Apply a similar colour gelato to the edge of the Project Life card, dry blending with your finger. 4. Add rub ons. Using green mist and a paint brush, create a stem and leaf for your flower directly on the 3”x 4” card. Once the mist is dry, outline the shape with a black pen. Next adhere the circles to the top of the stem. 5. Add the finishing touches to the cards such as a small fussy cut flower (Bella Blvd), sequins and gold colorshine splashes.

2 live out loud card My idea behind this challenge was to transfer canvas art images for Project Life cards. Here are some simple steps to create your own: 1. Choose a set of coordinating Project Life cards/trimmed patterned paper. 2. Swipe a thin layer of white paint on the lower half of the 4”x 6” card and put aside to dry. 3. On a scrap piece of neutral coloured patterned paper, draw a basic head and shoulders shape. Outline with black pen and fussy cut around the outside edge.
On a separate piece of scrap paper, draw an outline that resembles hair. I chose a basic bun shape but cut it from pink polka dot patterned paper. 4. Using gelatos, add two spots of colour on your paper “face” to define cheeks and blend carefully with your finger. Adhere hair paper piece to the head and body. 5. Once the paint has dried on your Project Life card, apply random phrases from rub on sheets. I discovered that the older the rub ons, the better they look not fully adhered to the card.

1. Using a flower style clear stamp, ink images to the lower half of a 3”x 4” Project Life card. 2. Paint the inside of the stamped flower with white paint. Allow to dry and then outline the flower image once more with black pen. NOTE: Before I applied the white paint, I applied a layer of white liquid paper (white out) to prevent having to apply extra layers of paint. 3. Add extra stamping detail with a script style clear stamp to the top left corner and lower right side. I used Kaisercraft clear stamp Oriental.
4. Apply splatters of Heidi Swapp colorshine in various shades, which coordinate with the Project Life card base. 5. Finish by adding a 2 ½” scallop strip of patterned paper to the top of the card and a date image just below it. Outline the scallop with black pen and add a staple.

TOP PHOTO | Mask off areas on journaling cards, then stamp your image in white space to create the illusion of a window. Here the bottom of the snowman stamp has avoided being inked onto the teal border. I used washi tape to follow the edge of the frame to prevent this from happening.

I created a card too just so I could play with some watercolors! The triangle card on my left hand page I made by drawing triangles on a 3x4 card with a sharpie and then using my watercolors to fill them in. It didnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t even take five minutes to make and it added some needed color to my pages.

Here is my 6 x 12 inch spread of the newest member of our family, Luna the crazy kitten. I wanted to document Luna’s time with us from her very first day and thought that a 6 x 12 inch album would be the perfect size. I primarily used the Midnight digital kit for these pages as the neutral colours suited the photos really well. I like the freedom of digitally designing my pages, and printing the cards out using my Picturemate, it makes documenting memories so quick and easy.

dear diary. Can you believe it? I’m sure I’ve read somewhere there are fewer than 16 weeks left until Christmas! Aside from not wanting to leave the naughty and nice lists until the bitter end… like I did last year and the year before that… it means more than half the year has slipped by with barely a notice.

Maybe, getting lost in the joy of spring will slow the clock and buy me some more time? Oh, yes I do live in hope.
It’s funny my Diary friend just how easy it is to just get lost in living. If you were to press me for details of any incredible highs and lows since I’ve last written, I’d not have much to say. It may sound dreadful that time’s passed by, with little to report and even less to show for it…. but
to be frank I’m truly enjoying the amble of dayto-day being.
Of course, there are tidbits to fill you in on, but presently I’m blessed with no dramas, no gloom and absolutely no storms on the horizon either. Life is good. Scott did get his learner’s permit, the day after his 16th birthday, and so now two of my babes are behind the steering wheel instead of buckled safely in the back seat. I’ve not yet been for a drive with him, his father has taken the L plate on board…. but I know the time will come. I’m not panicking yet, he’s my sensible one and I’ll just keep reminding myself of that until it’s my first trip in the passenger’s seat.
The adult child, after surviving a number of other 18th birthday parties as guest, not host, loves university life. The first semester results came in and he’s successfully completed one eighth of his law degree. That’s not the only thing they’re taught in law school it seems, as Liam proudly informed me he won 2nd place in the faculty pub crawl. Quite a proud parenting moment on both counts. I’m always relieved to know that he’s safe when going out for a few refreshments with his pals as he’s quite fond of calling me when full of cheer. Just to let me know how his night’s going and to tell me he loves me.
With more than half of Gina’s first year of school now knocked over, I wonder if I can request they stop teaching her anything new. She knows it all. Everything there is to know she’s on top of already and, yes, she tells me often. Except sight words. We’re still working on some of those pesky sight words, but according to her she does know them and is just tricking.
What began as 5 year old cuteness has evolved into a war of wills! Yep, that’s right, apples don’t fall far from their tree and she’s so much like me it’s frightening. At least she can’t swim properly yet because The Farmer has promised her a dog when she can complete a lap of the pool. Already she and her dad are at odds over the dog’s name: Red vs Reg. I vote Reg, but apparently it doesn’t have anything to do with me.
So Gina tells me. Well, while we’re still far from perfect rainbow arms in the pool, this planned pup is very much hypothetical, but do watch this space, we’ve got swimming lessons again this week.
I’m sure I’ll get to write again very soon, wonder if I’ll have a puppy pooper-scooper at the ready? Till next time
