The Fifth District includes the cities of Albany, Berkeley, Emeryville and Piedmont; the West Oakland, North Oakland and Rockridge communities and portions of the Grand Lake, Manzanita, Dimond District and Fruitvale neighborhoods.

Dear Friends, It is election season and our office aims to provide resources and support to first-time and seasoned voters to make the most educated voting choices possible. In this day and age Financial Literacy is a valuable tool and starting in October we will be hosting workshop sessions for young people in the San Antonio District to get a head start on understanding financial basics. In October we will also host our 9th annual “Ready to Learn Fun Fair” to support literacy among children and to provide resources for parents. Alameda County has recently backed The Positive Youth Justice Initiative, which supports improved social outcomes for crossover youth who have a history of trauma. In this issue we cover highlights from the Affirmation ceremony. My staff and I have been engaging with the community at several local events. Check out the photos from our outings and enjoy the contents of this newsletter. Please share the highlights with your family and networks. I welcome your thoughts and feedback about all of our communications. You can reach us at (510) 2726695 or dist5@acgov.org. Sincerely yours,

Keith Carson President Supervisor, District 5
