Reston Citizen’s Association Giving Reston a Voice
The 55 miles of paved and natural trails in Reston are enjoyed by virtually everyone who lives or works here. Did you know that not every resident is a member of the Reston Association (RA) master homeowners association, whose members pay for the maintenance of these pathways? Reston has two master associations: Reston Association and Reston Town Center Association (RTCA). Most everyone currently residing in Reston Town Center is a member of RTCA, but not RA. New residential developments being built along the transit corridor will be able to choose between joining RA, RTCA or neither. Reston already has independent areas such as the Deepwood HOA along Glade east of Colts Neck Road.

Reston Citizens Association board member Connie Hartke states, “Many residents who live in Reston Town Center high-rises do not realize that only RA members pay for the maintenance of the pathways, lakes and Walker Nature Center.” If you are not a member of RA, but enjoy the trails, lakes and Nature Center, consider a donation to FriendsofReston. org, a 501(c)3 non-profit that helps maintain the uniqueness of Reston.
Reston Citizens Association
Regardless of your HOA or lack thereof, Reston Citizens Association (RCA) covers everyone living in Small Tax District 5 of the Hunter Mill District.
RCA is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation founded in 1967. RCA is totally run by volunteers and is supported by community generosity. RCA’s mission is to promote Reston’s vision and planning principles, to sustain and enhance its quality of life now and in the future, by serving as a non-partisan, action-oriented organization for all Restonians. Its goal is to educate and engage the community on issues affecting Reston and its future and to facilitate the voice of the citizens by representing the community at local, county and state level meetings and forums.
