JUDY AKERS • 1968-79 • 206-94 (.687) A Kansas State graduate with a degree in physical education, Judy Akers helped start the women’s basketball program at her alma mater. During her 11 years at K-State, Akers’ teams turned in six 20win seasons and captured nine Kansas state titles and two Big Eight crowns. On the national scene, Akers led the Wildcats to two Region VI titles and five AIAW national tournament bids. Akers also served as K-State’s women’s athletics director from 1974-76.
