This initiative between JUCCCE and the MOHURD is a commitment to help local mayors make a positive impact on China’s energy landscape. Wang Zhongping, the Director of the National Mayors Training Center and Peggy Liu, Chairperson of JUCCCE, will sign the three-year commitment to cooperate on JUCCCE’s China Mayoral Training program. The JUCCCE Mayoral Training Program is a series of courses that provide Chinese mayors with a framework to create city-level energy efficiency programs. These will be incorporated in mandatory sessions at the National Mayoral Training Center in Beijing, where officials from 680 Chinese cities will attend. The curriculum bundles city-level energy efficiency case studies, access to implementation vendors, experts and financial resources. “JUCCCE is honored to work with the National Mayoral Training Center in our work to accelerate the greening of China,” said JUCCCE Chairperson Peggy Liu. “Mayors in China are rapidly reshaping the face of China. Educating and enabling China's Mayors to implement high-impact city level energy efficiency programs is crucial to ensuring a healthy, energy-secure, and harmonious future. We will bring the best of the world to their doorstep in our Healthy, EnergySaving Cities courses. Mayors will get valuable insight on energy efficiency and clean energy initiatives that have worked worldwide through case studies and interactive dialogue with top experts. They will have access to all the top technologies, experts and financial resources they need to green their cities as fast as possible.” At the event, Han Aixing, Deputy Director General of the Department of Science & Technology, MOHURD, pointed out that this is a timely and meaningful collaboration which not only provides opportunities for our mayors to learn about the new technologies and experience, but also broadens our horizon while bringing in different practices. As a young international NGO, JUCCCE is fast and effective. By working together, we can leverage our strong leadership and our unique social structure to effectively promote energy efficiency in our cities. "Mayors will play a deciding role in whether rapidly urbanizing China can keep a step ahead with local capability to build greener cities. China's evolving energy landscape could benefit from

efforts to bring together a cohesive and comprehensive offering of green solutions to these Mayors," said Jonathan Woetzel, McKinsey & Company. “As a leading developer of innovative government-led solutions to reducing energy use in buildings, in the U.S. and China, ICF believes that mayors can be a key part of the energy solution in China, where up to a third of all energy is used in buildings. Over the past 6 years, ICF has trained more than 2,500 Chinese building managers on ways to quickly reduce up to 20% of their energy use through entirely no-cost and low-cost strategies. We are proud to partner with JUCCCE on this training program, to bring these strategies to a larger number of cities in China, said David Hathaway, the Director of ICF International China Office. Representatives from major international organizations and companies participated in the launching ceremony.
