Se localiza en la zona centro montañosa del estado, en las coordenadas 19° 04’ latitud norte y 97° 03’ longitud oeste, a una altura de 1520 metros sobre el nivel del mar. Limita al norte con Alpatláhuac y Calcahualco; al este con Huatusco, Ixhuatlán del Café y Tomatlán; al sur con La Perla y Chocamán; y al oeste con Calcahualco y La Perla. Su distancia aproximada por carretera a la capital del estado es de 50 Km. Su clima es templado-húmedo-regular con una temperatura promedio de 19.6 °C; su precipitación pluvial media anual es de 2 mil 69.2 mm.
It is located at the center mountainous zone of the state,at the coordinates 19° 04’ north and 97° 03’ west, to a height of 1520 meters above sea level. It limits to the north with Alpatláhuac and Calcahualco; to the east with Huatusco, Ixhuatlán del Café and Tomatlán; to the south with La Perla and Chocamán; to the west with Calcahualco and La Perla. The approximate distance by highway to the capital of the state is of 50 Km. Its climate is tempered and humid with an average temperature of 19,6 °C; its annual pluvial precipitation average is of 2 thousand 69,2 mm.

Desde este lugar es posible apreciar una de las bellezas naturales más importantes, el Citlaltépetl, conocido también como Pico de Orizaba, pues se encuentra muy cerca de aquí, por lo que Coscomatepec te queda de paso si quieres emprender la subida a este volcán. Existen también muchas construcciones tradicionales y de gran belleza arquitectónica que debes visitar cuando te encuentres en Coscomatepec, una de ellas es la iglesia de San Juan Bautista, edificada en el siglo XIX y ubicada en el centro, frente al parque; así como la Capilla de San Diego, una verdadera joya del siglo XVII. Otro de los lugares que debes visitar es el Museo de Antropología ya que ahí puedes admirar vestigios de la cultura totonaca y otras poblaciones indígenas que habitaron en el lugar.

arrive to Coscomatepec on Monday morning with the purpose to look over the local market the “day of plaza (shopping)”. Full of color, thanks to the extended variety of fruits, vegetables and scented herbs; the market of Coscomatepec becomes a great tourist attraction for the traveller. “Izote” flower, “capulín”, blackberries, lettuce, cucumbers, radish and Tabasco green chilli, cultivated in the region and from organic grown, are some of the products that you can find here. Also in this market birds, pig’s and horses can be bought. From here is possible to watch one of the most important natural beauties, the Citlaltépetl, also known as Orizaba’s Peak, which is located near here, if you want to undertake the climb to this volcano, Coscomatepec is a obliged stop. Many traditional constructions with a huge architectural beauty, that you should visit, are found in Coscomatepec, one of them is the church of San Juan Bautista, built in the 19th century which is located in the town square; there’s also the chapel of San Diego, a real jewel of the 17th century. Another of the places that you should visit is the Museum of Anthropology, there you can admire traces of the “totonaca” culture and other native populations that inhabited in the place.

Lleno de colorido, gracias a su enorme variedad de frutas, hortalizas y hierbas de olor, el mercado de Coscomatepec se convierte en un verdadero atractivo turístico para el viajero. Flor de izote, capulín, moras, lechugas, pepinos, rabanitos y chile verde tabasqueño, todos cultivados en la región y de origen orgánico, son algunos de los productos que puedes encontrar aquí. También se pueden comprar en este mercado aves, cerdos y caballos.
