“Río del heno” “River of the hay”

l llegar a Pajapan, te encontrarás con un lugar privilegiado por los bienes y bellezas naturales que posee. Muchos de los hombres viven de capturar diversos animales que viven en el cuerpo de agua más importante de la zona: la Laguna del ostión. Algunos de los productos que se pueden extraer son la lisa, el chucumite (un robalo chico), el sargo, la jaiba, el camarón de potrero (que es un tipo pequeño y menudo), el camarón de laguna, el cangrejo peludo, y el cangrejo azul, entre otros. Pajapan se encuentra ubicado al sur del estado, en las coordenadas 18° 16” latitud norte y 94° 41” longitud oeste, 180 metros de altitud sobre el nivel del mar. Este municipio cuenta con 17 localidades y en él se encuentra la Laguna del ostión. Sus límites son Mecayapan, al norte; Coatzacoalcos y el Golfo de México, al este; Cosoleacaque y Chinameca, al sur y Mecayapan, al oeste. Su clima es cálidohúmedo y su temperatura promedio al año es de 23° C.

Pajapan is located to the south of the state, in the coordinates 18° 16” north latitude and 94° 41” western length, 180 meters of altitude up sea level. This municipality counts with 17 localities and La Laguna del Ostion is found among them. Its limits are Mecayapan to the north; Coatzacoalcos and the Gulf of Mexico to the east; Cosoleacaque and Chinameca to the south and Mecayapan, to the west. The weather is hothumid and the average annual temperature is 23° C.

Once arriving at Pajapan you will find with a land privileged by the goods and the natural beauties that it possess. Many people live upon the capture of diverse animals that live in the most important water area in the zone: La laguna del ostion. Some of the species that can be caught here are the “lisa”, the “chucumite” (a small sea bass), the “sargo”, the crab, the “potrero shrimp” (which is a small kind of shrimp), the shrimp of gap, the hairy crab, and the blue crab, among others.
