Williamson County is one of Tennessee's most-prosperous and growing counties, home to major corporate headquarters, historic town centers, quiet neighborhoods, an abundance of shopping and retail, high-quality schools and plenty of open spaces. The Cool Springs area of Franklin and the Maryland Farms section of Brentwood include headquarters for major employers including Nissan, Community Health Systems and Healthways. Located just south of Nashville, Williamson County offers schools that routinely achieve some of the top test scores in the state. Franklin, the county's largest city, includes a revitalized historic town square and numerous historic sites, including Carnton Plantation and the Carter House, both of which played major roles in the Civil War's Battle of Franklin.
