Born: Sept. 29, 1977 Year At JMU: Fifth Graduate of: Rowan University (Bachelor’s 1999, Master’s 2004) Hometown: Deptford, New Jersey At JMU: Joined the JMU staff before the start of 2008 spring drills and works with the Dukes’ cornerbacks… Primary Recruiting Area: Central and Southern New Jersey, Delaware and Ohio… in 2009 coached Scotty McGee, a SecondTeam All-CAA honoree and a sixthround draft choice by the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars… in 2008 coached First-Team All-CAA cornerback and Tampa Bay Buccaneers signee Evan McCollough, who later was Rookie of the Year in the Canadian Football League for the Toronto Argonauts. Before JMU: Defensive coordinator at Rowan from 2004 until joining the JMU staff… Rowan’s teams were 34-14 during his four years as defensive coordinator and made three NCAA Division III playoff appearances, including the semifinals in 2004 and 2005… Rowan won New Jersey Athletic Conference titles in 2004, 2005 and 2006 and was the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) team of the year and Lambert Cup winner in 2004 and 2005… a linebacker and free safety as a Rowan player (199599), a two-year team captain and a member of squads that made four Division III national championship game appearances… received Rowan’s Player of the Year and student-athlete awards in 1999 and was a First-Team AllNew Jersey Athletic Conference and All-ECAC honoree in 1999. Personal: Received his undergraduate degree in criminal law/ justice with a minor in business from Rowan in 1999 and his master’s degree in higher education administration from Rowan in 2004… worked as an adult supervision probation officer in New Jersey from 2000-02 and was associated with Rowan’s Center for Addiction Studies from 2002-04… he and his wife, Rebecca, have a son, Jack (5), and daughter, Maura (2)… Rebecca Hendricks is a Rowan graduate and an employee of the Rockingham Memorial Hospital’s Wellness Center.

Was a four-year letterwinner for the Dukes... ranks sixth on JMU’s all-time tackles list with 416 in his career, good for first among defensive backs... also recorded seven career interceptions, including one returned 100 yards for a touchdown, and 25 pass deflections... His 144 tackles in 2004 were the most on the team and helped propel the Dukes to a National Championship, earning him Atlantic-10 and CollegeSportsReport.com Freshman of the Year honors... Was named to the Walter Camp Foundation’s All-America First Team twice... Was the league’s first four-time All-America and four-time First Team AllLeague player... Only the second player in JMU history to be elected as a team captain for three years... Named All-ECAC twice, Defensive Player of the Year three times (Roanoke Times in 2004, Atlantic 10 in 2004 and CAA in 2007), and was named to a combined five All-America teams in 2004 and 2007. Before JMU: Played in the Canadian Football League with the Montreal Alouettes in 2008... has spent the last three years coaching offensive and defensive backs at Aquinas High School in Georgia with brother Matt, who serves as the head coach. Personal: Bachelor’s degree in 2008 in kinesiology with a sports management emphasis and a minor in business at JMU.
