Dear editor, I've been reading the magazine for a long time, and in my opinion it's a very good one, because it covers almost all our experiences done in the course, but it isn't perfect. One thing I don't like at all is the repetition of some articles. For example, instead of doing three small articles about the exchange with England or the ski trip, you could join them to create a longer and more detailed article which would cover almost all the trip experiences. The repetition of articles is also very boring, reading about the same topic with litle amount of information once and once again. Instead, a longer article with more content would make us continue reading more. I hope my suggestions will be considered in order to improve your magazine. HĂŠctor Marcos

An Interview with Our Teacher Assistant, Joe By: Noelia Martín INT: Do you think it has been a good idea to came to Spain? JOE: Yes, because it is the first time living in a country where people speak Spanish, so for me it has been a good activity to improve my Spanish and I have learnt a lot about Spanish culture that I didn´t know. INT: What are you going to do when you finish your studies, here in Spain? JOE: I’m going to return to United States and I would like to work for the government for 1 or 2 years and then after I will go to graduate school to recive a master. INT: What is the best experience that you have had here, in Spain? JOE: The best experience I have had here in Spain is in general teaching here at a secondary school because I didn’t know too much about Spanish education and I have learnt a lot. INT: Have you adapted to Spanish schedule? JOE: Yes I have, for example in the USA I have breakfast at 7 and I eat lunch about noon and I have dinner at 18:00 but here because I have school I don’t have lunch until 15:30 or 16:00 and I have dinner at 9:30 or 10:00. I would be interested in how I will change my schedule when I return to the United States.

INT: Did you travel a lot? JOE: Yes I have traveled a lot. first here in Spain, I have been to: San Sebastian, Granada, Sevilla, Toledo, Segovia, Zaragoza, Barcelona and I also traveled to other countries such as the United Kingdom, France, Portugal, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Hungary and the Czech Republic. INT: What was your first important experience when you arrived? JOE: My first week of school because I were very nervous and very timid and I didn’t know what to expect, but students have been very enthusiastic and teachers very hospitable. INT: Do you miss your family? JOE: Yes, I haven’t seen my parents since September and my girlfriend since December. INT: Which Spanish tradition do you like best? JOE: I don’t know if this is a tradition but in America we have breakfast when we are walking or when we are in the car but here when you have breakfast you sit down and you talk. It is a very personal aspect that I have noticed from Spanish people. INT: How was your experience in Global Classrooms? JOE: It was amazing, I think it is probably my favorite class that I have taught, not only because I really enjoy the topics we discuss but also because my students from Year B

have been dedicated to the class. You have been very excited and enthusiastic every day which

makes my job more easy and enjoyable.

THE SCIENCE FAIR. By Daniel Tejero This was a great experience for some students that were chosen in order to explain and make some machines and then expose them in a fair with others highschools. We worked with students from Alonso de Avellaneda in Alcalá de Henares, and they were so kind with us and they came to our highschool every Monday and Wednesday in order to help us with the machines. First we ate something all together, and we needed more than 3 tables to eat. Some days one student had to bring some special food. For example the last day Claudia ( one student from Alcalá de Henares) brought some pasta! We also brought cakes, sponge cakes and strawberries. Not everything was a party and we had to work and learn a huge amount of paper full of information of each machine. In my opinion no one read those pagesbecause we were the ones that made that machines! We spent like three weeks working on those machines and learning how to explain them but most of the time we were talking with our new friends from Alcalá. Our teachers were Felipe,Gregorio and Oscar. Oscar was the one from Alcalá but some years before he had worked here! so we were like a huge family working on a technology project. The most important day arrived and we were all so nervous. It was on the weekend and we had to wake up

early in order to decorate the stand and carry the machines from Felipe´s car to the stand. The fair was situated near the Train Museum in Madrid. One hour before we started Gregorio gave us a T-Shirt and a cap from the technology fair so we all were dressed the same and we could appreciate who was from the fair and who wasn´t. We had four turns, there was one on Saturday morning, one on Saturday afternoon , one on Sunday morning and the last one on Sunday afternoon. I have to work in every one. Before we started and the Science Fair was open we made a video recording of every stand. After that the Science Fair start and people started to came in. It was full of people. At first we found it easy and interesting but when you repeat more than ten times the same we found that boring but it was nice and you found many things, from parents with his children that tried to touch everything to people who really now what you were talking about. We changed the different machines every hour because we were bored of explaining the same one evey time. Then after the first turn we had time to have lunch and visit others stands. We didn´t have much time left so we started explaining again . At the end of the first day everyone was exicited because we finished our first day in the Science Fair and we do it so well that we were sure we were going to won!. On Sunday we were tired but we needed to explain the machines again to everyone who was interested on them. That day was the special one because at 14:00 the F1 started and Felipe, Paula and I wanted to see it. We left

the others explaining in the stand and we went to a restaurant that was near the museum to see it. At the end Alonso won and we had to go as fast as possible to explain again. At the end of the last turn we were tired and happy at the same time because we had done it so well. We had to take the machines from the stand and we had to say good bye to our partners from Alcalå. Some day´s later Felipe told us that we were the winners!!! we won the Science Fair! We were between the best three best stands and we were the best Technology stand! We were all so happy and proud of ourselves.

DEBATING FOR FUN: A group of students were at an UN global conference to solve an international issue. By: Rosa Díaz

On the 27th of February, some teens from 17 different schools in Madrid met to discuss about an important issue, fresh water resources.

we went to a ‘Burger King’ all together and had a lot of fun. It was funny to see the 12 of us all dressed up in a fast food restaurant.

The awarded students got a certificate and the opportunity to attend a global conference in New York. No one of our school got the opportunity to go to New York, but we had an amazing experience in which we met a lot of guys like us and we learned a lot. It was a United Nations debate model in which different countries were represented by boys and girls like us, with the same age and interests. T They were very well prepared, it was hard for us to follow them because they had an excellent level, but when we developed confidence in ourselves we did our best and had fun. The most important thing we demonstrated that our school and teachers were the best. We worked very hard the previous 5 months but with the help of our teacher assistants, Joe and Molly, we managed to do well at the conference. When we finished the conference, we returned to Coslada by train, where

This is an official photo we took before starting the conference. In conclusion, it was a great experience, we worked very hard, we met new friends and moreover, we were trying to solve a big problem that concerns all of us.

tag, which for me was the best activity in the exchange, and to a bowling alley, where everyone was dancing and having a good ! time. In addition I ate fish and chips at the An exchange consits of a student going to another country to stay at someone's house beach, and they were completely delicious. and to host the student who hosted you. This I definitely had discovered a new culture not very different from ours. In general the year my high school organised three exchanges, one to Germany, one to Holland food was really tasty, and although I was not and one to England. I participated in two out used to the English timetable, I had a great time there. of the three exchanges. I chose to

My Experience with the Exchange Programs, By: Alberto Alarc贸n

participate in the German exchange and in the English exchange. In the German exchange I hosted Simon, a German student. During this exchange we, Spanish students, tried to get everyone together in order for Germans to meet each other. During this exchange we visited Toledo, Parque Europa, we went shopping to the Plenilunio and we played a football match between the Spanish and German students. When Simon left Spain, I was really sad because a week is a really short period of time. In addition I was at a Global Classroom ! conference and I couldn't say goodbye to him.

!

In conclusion, both exchanges changed my life for the better because during them I met new people I would't have ever met. Those moments are unforgettable now for me.

Fairs are already in Coslada. By SofĂa Santos For all those children and teenagers today the show continuous fun. There Are those days in which the friends try to meet at least three times to have a good time at the attractions. You can go from a harmless bulls to a slingshot which throws you through the air at a devastating rate, In just few seconds.

To be at fairs is a continuous laughter. You can laugh with your friends, but there also is laughter in the prices of the attractions, because if your city is in a remote part of Spain we all know that we are in crisis and that our money is gone in the blink of an eye. But it lacks the third type of laughter. Because if you live near the show you'll notice that until 3 or 4 in the morning music, mostly reggaeton keeps ringing and you're saying "by God turn that music off". Still fairs are the best way to relax, and entertain a student. In conclusion, the fair is the best distraction for young people and provides that momentary happiness, and it is the best option to have good time. Enjoy the fairs!

Global Classrooms, an Incredible Experience By: Iréne Fernandez! Global Classrooms is a project organized each year by the United Nations. This year, eighteen high schools have participated in Madrid. Each year, one topic is chosen and it is debated. This year, “Freshwater resources” was the topic used. All students from the different high schools had been preparing for months the topic for these two days of Global Classrooms. The first day, we went to the General Assembly in Madrid to listen to several speeches given by different important people who were involved in the project.!!

All together at the General Assembly.

The second day was the most important day because it was the day where we were going to put into practice all we had learned. We arrived to a place with various rooms where the committees were. There were many girls and boys the same age and as nervous as us. ! As the session was opened, we started to talk more and finally we did a very good job. The last thing we had to do were the resolutions and when two of them were approved and corrected, we went from the place of the committees to the General Assembly again. There, some speeches were given to us again and the awards were distributed. Although many people didn´t received any award, they were happy anyway for participating in this experience and to have met so many people and for making new friends. I would never forget these two days and this unforgettable experience.

the exciting conference arrived. The first day, 26 of February, we went to the Madrid assembly, where we attend to speeches about the conference and the topics, but the hard day was the following day.

A Global Experience! By: Olga Aldecoa In recent years, global classrooms conferences have taken place in many different places around the world, but what are they? Global classrooms are conferences all around the world, where students from different bilingual schools meet to discuss diverse and pressing international issues, learning how to take decisions democratically and following the United Nations model. VIII Conference in Madrid This past 26 and 27 of February the VII global conference took place in Madrid where 216 students from 18 bilingual high schools participated. This year’s topics were: "Protection of orphans and children" and "Water Resources". The conference was organized in diverse committees, 3 of them were for water resources, UNEP, and other 2 for UNICEF. My Experience For a long time we have been preparing to attend this VII global classroom conference .Every Friday at school we practiced caucuses and how to work in this conference, after a lot of hard work,

Official photo with the 12 students and teachers. On February 27, the twelve students of IES Manuel de Falla were ready for the conference, all of us we were wearing stylish clothes and our nerves were on edge. When we arrived at the assembly, we were distributed into different committees; my partner and I were in UNEP 3. I looked around all the students, there were many different countries, such us Norway, UK, and the conference started! Everyone was raising placards and participating as much as they could with the speakers list, the caucuses, and the resolutions. The time was passing so fast! And after a lot of hard work, the conference ended! It was time for awards, so we moved to the Madrid assembly. We were very excited and happy about the experience, and my partner and I received an award! We were very very happy!

I have learned a lot in this conference, about the topics, the other students, and the caucuses. It !

was a really good experience that I will always remember. Thank you for this conference!

Brutal neo-Nazi attack to a French student By: Daniel Moreno The fascism ideology is still killing on Europe. ClĂŠment MĂŠric, a student of the high school Political sciences of Paris, a person of the Antifascism Action, died the last week when he was kicked by a group of skin-heads in Paris. According to several testimonies, the crossing of insults began in-house and ended out with a fight that cost the lives of some 18-year-old students. Police already detained the suspect of the attack and six others, all linked in one way or another with the neo-Nazi Galaxy. This tragedy happens in a moment of rebirth of this ideology. Demonstrations against the law that legalized samesex marriage in France took to the street to tens of thousands of people who were against the law. In addition to the Catholic Church, the Catholic fundamentalist and extreme ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

right, neo-Nazis were central and ultra-violent actors of these marches. France wants to dissolve the far-right nationalist Revolutionary Group, after the murder of the young, Clement Meric, These groups of extreme right, according to Ayrault, " have not disappeared completely. Therefore, at all time, we must attack them, and the Government will do it. I am sure of the fact that, whenever it is necessary, the Parliament is going to support us ". As indicated the analyst Caroline Fourest in the chain BFM TV, his members scarcely overcome the thousand in whole, but they are a very radical people and with certain sensation of impunity, inside the climate of social and political twitch lived in France for the economic crisis and the demonstrations against homosex ual marriage law. For the present time, according to police sources, there are seven arrested people, between which it is believed that there is the person in charge of the death of the antifascist young man.

STILL REBELLIONS, NOT REVOLUTION YET IN TURKEY By: Pablo Jiménez Revolts in Turkey don’t stop and are continuously repeating day by day. Population is rebelling against the excessive violence of the police and the lack of responsibility of the prime minister and the human rights violation Everything began with the demonstrations who were protesting against the reformation of Taskim Gezi park. The police attacked this demonstration with tear gas. This news, spread worldwide through social media very fast. Now there are revolts nearly in all cities of Turkey and the causes have turn into political issues.

The particular aspects, that give this protests more interest is the way people demonstrate, they wear anti-gas masks that symbolize the big pressure of police, and, although the prime minister has given some solutions to solve this problem, those proposed solutions seem not to satisfy society demands, so revolts seem to remain for time.

Turkish people, tired of being the centre of police´s violence, rebel against the government and freedom of expression.

An Exchange of Cultures By: Pablo Millán In this article, we are going to explain a little bit more about the experiences spent there. At first, we all were nervous and looking forward to seeing our partners. After a whole evening travelling by plane and by bus, we finally saw them there, in the middle of the night, waiting for us. Then, everyone went to their partner’s house and finally we rested for a while. In the morning, we really didn’t know who the English were and we had to make an effort to learn all the names. After school that day, we decided to go to a park, near the school, and there most of us started to get to know them better and we had a really good time. Since that day the rest of the week passed quicker than we thought it would, going in the morning to different places such as Cathedrals, Bowling parks and McDonald’s, and in the evening meeting with our families and having the dinner. Finally Saturday came, the last whole day we were going to spend there. That day we divided mostly in 2 big groups, and we spent the whole day in the street, playing jokes on people and going to the cinema. It was the best day there. And then, after a sad farewell we returned to Spain again. And this is all about the experience of the exchange, which, I recommend to everyone because you have a very good time and it’s very fun.

The Ski Trip, An Amazing Adventure that You’ll Never Forget By: Belén García

The ski trip is a spectacular excursion because you not only learn to ski, you also go to a spectacular spa, you stay in a spectacular hotel where you can stay in your room with your friends, you can buy gifts and you see Andorra.

In the evenings, you do a lot of things. You go to an amazing spa that has a lot of things, go to a disco with your friends, go to buy souvenirs to Andorra, which is spectacular. You can also stay at the hotel, which is perfect too. It has a pool where you can swing, a restaurant, and a pub.

The excursion was amazing and I will never forget it. The first days were difficult because everything was new and the worse thing is having to wake up at 7, but worth it. You learn how to ski and you can do a lot of things when you are not skiing.

The best thing is to stay in the room with your friends, where you sleep with them and enjoy time with them however you can go to the pub to play games. But the best thing is to stay with them during the night night watching the TV, and having fun… I recommend everyone to go to Andorra because you will have fun, learn how to ski and go to beautiful places.

The days when we ski skied were amazing. Don’t worry if you are new at this and you don’t know how to ski and you fall down all the times because when you know how to do it is very easy to ski. The tracks were amazing you can see a lot of things of the mountain while you are skiing.

These are the tracks of Andorra

CATCHING FIRE By: Marina Pastor After winning The Hunger Games, Katniss returns home, but she doesn’t return alone. She has done something which seemed to be impossible; she has managed to save Peeta. But, with this, she has challenged the Capitol, which is very dangerous for her life. The actions taken by Katniss in The Hunger Games have also started something in the different districts. She has produced a spark that maybe, she can’t control and she has recalled Panem citizens that maybe, the odds are never in our favour.

Based on the best seller written by Susan Collins, and after the huge success of the first movie, The Hunger Games, now the second part, Catching Fire, is going to be released on cinemas. There is an incredible cast such as Jennifer Lawrence, the 2013 Oscar winner, who is going to perform again the main character, Katniss Everdeen and the famous Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark. Also, there are new incorporations in the cast, such as Sam Claflin or Jena Malone, and it will probably have the same success as the first movie, which was the most office success film of the history. The film will be released in cinemas the 22 of November.

Finding Nemo 3D The 1st of May an incredible underwater adventure arrives at the cinemas. By: Anna Tejeda Finding Nemo is a digital animation movie of Pixar Animation Studios Company performed for the first time the 30th of May of 2003 in the US. It is a film based on Andrew Stanton’s argument, with him and Lee Unkrich as director, Graham Walters as the producer and Tomas Newman at the music. It is an amazing underwater adventure about two clown fish, Nemo and his father Marlin, who got separated when a scuba diver captures Nemo in the Great Barrier Reef. Nemo is taken to Sydney and retained in a dentist’s aquarium planning how to escape along with the rest of the fish while Marlin, who is helped by a blue surgeon fish called Dory, starts a trip in search of his son.

Nemo is a six-year fish curious and impressionable, although he has a birth malformation fin, he is very adventurous and is able to do great things. He usually says: “I come from the ocean”.

Marlin is Nemo’s father and he is very overprotective with Nemo because his wife and the rest of his sons died, but he will need to find the courage, the wisdom and the faith to rescue his son. He usually says: “If this is a joke, it’s not funny... And from jokes I understand a bit: I’m a clown fish”.

Dory is a friendly, pleasant and sociable fish that would tell you her life all day if she wouldn’t suffer short-term

amnesia. She usually says: “Continue swimming....

Finding Nemo is an incredible and emotional film which has everything that a film needs to have: adventure, love and surprising scenes, perfect for under-eighteen children or more to have fun. It also has a moral meaning: it shows why parents are always forbidding children to do dangerous things: to protect them. There are many amazing scenes but in my opinion, the best one is when Marlin and Nemo meet again after all the adventures and problems they faced, because it is an emotional and happy part where you can see that both loved each other and that a father would do the necessary to protect his children. Don’t lose this unique opportunity and enjoy this spectacular film with your children.

Visit this website to discover more about the characters and the film: http://www.disney.es/buscando-a-nemo/index.html

ROSBERG WINS GP OF MONACO Rosberg wins for the first time of the year ,Vettel and Webber completed the podium. By Javier Rojo Last weekend there was an exciting F1 race. It reached nearly the limit of the regulation time and the final result of the race as always couldn’t be predicted until the end. Because it has an urban circuit the streets are very narrow. Consequently since the start of the race there were plenty of accidents, which made the race even more interesting. The most spectacular accidents were Massa´s and Maldonado´s. Rosberg the German driver of Mercedes won the Pole position on Saturday. So he was the first in the start of the race. He had a perfect race and he didn’t commit many mistakes.

Rosberg in the centre is very happy because of winning the race.

In addition to this Rosberg´s tires had an excellent performance and they didn´t deteriorate as much as in other circuits. Rosberg had also a very high rate during the whole weekend. Thanks to all these facts he managed to win the race. In this race it´s never difficult to overtake an opponent because of the narrowness of the streets, so the position of the pole position is essential for at least reaching the podium. It was a very interesting race. It had a lot TV spectators and the stands all around the race were filled up. With Rosberg´s victory the championship is with a very high and even level.

Using Football as a Message of International Respect By VĂctor MartĂn Nowadays the best and most popular is football. There is a tournament that includes a lot of countries of America. One of the most popular is Brazil but there are others like Uruguay or Unites States and the best team of this years Spain. This tournament should be one of the most dynamic and interesting ever. The confederation cup starts the 16 of this month with the incredible match between Spain and Uruguay. This tournament was established in Brasil. This is also good for the country in the case to earn money because the situation of the crisis is affecting all around the world. The competition before was won by Brazil in an epic final was very interesting because anyone could win. The security is going to be very serious because they have to control all the details and any problem the players have and with all the details. I have in my mind the terrorist attack on Boston. All the teams go with a message of respect because a lot of children, adults and grandparents are going to be watching this interesting tournament and all the teams go to win but with the message of respect on their minds.

Spain Wins a Match Brilliantly By: Jaime Antonaya Spain stars in the confederation cup showin its best version against Uruguay wining 2-1, now it's the favorite for the victory. Probably now Brazil is the only team which can have possibilities to win Spain. Although it will be difficult because Brazil plays with one of the best players, Neymar. As we saw in the first match, he needed 3 minutes to score an amazing goal and help in the victory by 3 goals. Also the Spanish victory showed the players are prepared for winning the only championship Spain hasn't won yet. The question of whou should be the seems to be resolved by the trainer. Soldado scored and has more posibilities of playing in the competition, but Villa is able to play and score too. The decision will be taken by Vicente del Bosque and everyone hopes he will take the correct decision.
