THOMSON (BACHMANN), DIANE (Jun ’59) Diane’s first job after graduating from HPHS was in 1959 at Ex‐Cell‐O Corporation in Highland Park. She is a Certified Professional Secretary who has 54 years as a corporate, government, union and legal secretary. She graduated in 1994 from Davenport University with a Bachelor – Business Administration. She incorporated Diane Bachmann, CPS, Inc., in 2004. Diane married William Bachmann in 1977 and they were married for 22 years until his death in 1999. Her stepchildren share holidays with her: George (USAF/United A/L ‐ retired San Francisco), Fran (AmArbAssn/auto sales/cert appraiser/ret GPF), and Vincent (musician/composer ‐ Roseville). Diane is very appreciative of the energetic, entertaining, intelligent, athletic, hard‐working and stunning students about whom she reminisces with wishes for life success. She also has gratitude for the teachers at HPHS for sharing lifetime knowledge and skills. She has two children – a son and a daughter and she also has three step‐children and seven grandchildren. She is raising two children, working, re‐married, a housekeeper and grandmother. WAYBRIDGE (KASTEN), MARIA (Jun ’59) 14270 Robbe Road, Belleville, MI 4111 734‐699‐3157 mwkasten@yahoo.com After graduation, Maria attended HPJC, completed 2 years, and went on to graduate from Michigan State University. She began her teaching career in the Madison Heights Lamphere School District. After three years, she entered the Navy OCS program at Newport, Rhode Island, and discovered that being under someone else’s control 24/7 didn’t appeal to her, so she declined her commission. She returned to Dearborn and began teaching in the Taylor School District and taught each of the elementary grades for 35 years in the same school. She retired just before the grandchildren came through. Her adventurous life includes waiting until she was 36 to get married (they met on the golf course at Lake in the Woods Apartments in Ypsilanti) and enjoyed 30 years with Harold until his death in 2008. They traveled, were involved in community affairs and opened a printing company. Maria enjoys reading, playing golf, tinkling on the piano and creating with stained glass.
