This month the Gravenhurst building department will be sending out notices for incomplete permits that are three (3) years and older. Final Inspections are always required • A minor permit to repair a deck or dock and major permits to construct a dwelling all require a final inspection. • A completion permit for construction that started prior to a permit being obtained also requires a final inspection. • Outstanding inactive permits may cause issues at the time of selling your property, obtaining a mortgage, severing your property, or transferring the property. These permit holders will have until April 1st, 2016, to request a final inspection of the project. After April 1st, 2016, a fee of $175.00 will be applicable to building permits more than three years old (where there have been no inspections for a least a year) as per the current building fees by-law.
