The Importance of Bartenders Bartenders as we all know manage the bar area in a tavern or a restaurant and prepare drinks and cocktails for the customers. Though, it is not mandatory to have formal education to be a bartender but there are some institutions that offer bartender programs and that are really useful. On-the-job training is important especially for people who have not completed any bartending course. Most states have the minimum age requirement of 18 but there are few other states that require you to be above than that. The importance of a bartender is immense, especially for the owners of the bars and restaurants and customers who visit the bar.

A bartender take drink orders, mix drinks and prepare cocktails. Only bartenders know the recipe of more than 100 cocktails and can prepare them in the shortest possible time. They can cater to many customers at the same time and that is what a restaurant or bar owner looks for especially during the weekends when there is a heavy footfall. Bartenders are also responsible for setting up the bar at the start of his or her shift and keep the bar full. They are required to fill glassware cabinets, clean the area if required, load the ice machines, arrange ash trays and snacks, get the


tool like pitcher, shakers, cutlery and bottle openers ready and everything else. In some restaurants, they are also required to set the table. Bartenders are known to play another informal role and that is interacting with the customers as many of them come to the bar for relieving their stress or to escape from the problems of life. People get drunk and talk to bartenders and share their problems as well to get some relief.
