TANGO A musical genre and a dance characteristic of the Rio de la Plata and its area of influence, mainly

in Buenos Aires. Six main musical styles have left their mark on the tango: The Cuban habanera, candombe (Argentina and Uruguay), the Andalusian tango (Spain), milonga (Argentina and Uruguay), the mazurka (Poland) and the European polka. Tango can be defined as a sensual dance in which a couple transmit a deep emotional relationship by means of their bodies’ movements. Many of the lyrics of their songs are written in local slang and often express emotions and sadness felt by both men and women. When in Buenos Aires, attending a tango show it is a must, and if you are more adventurous, attend a milonga, the place where tango is danced.
