Interested in creatures that are slimy or scaly? Join us for this week long, half-day camp where we become Herpetologists and explore different reptiles and amphibians. Get up close and personal with some of our residential herps and be prepared to visit them in the wild as well!
Full Moon Hike Test your trail skills (and your night sight!) as we hike around the nature preserve by the light of the stars and the full moon. Terrain: Easy to moderate. 1.5 - 2.0 miles.

Young Explorers Camp Not sure if your child is ready for a full day at camp? Then this half-day version of our everpopular Outdoor Adventure Camp is just what you’re searching for! Each day will focus on a different outdoor recreation activity. Campers will explore the nature preserve by going canoeing, using a map and compass, hunting for hidden treasure, and more.

Outdoor Survival Camp Latta Plantation Nature Preserve provides everything we need in order to survive. During this fun-filled, week long camp, campers will learn how to survive in the outdoors. We will learn about water survival as we canoe, land navigation with a map and compass, how to build shelters, cooking in the outdoors, and, most importantly, to keep a positive mental attitude. This will culminate in an overnight camping experience. The overnight camping will take place at Copperhead Island adjacent to McDowell Nature Preserve. Campers will need to be picked up on Friday morning at 10:00am.

G.O. Play! Festival Nature makes the best playground! After all, where else can you catch a fish, bake a mud pie, and build an awesome stick fort? Families and kids of all ages will have a blast at this annual festival that’s all about getting outside, being active, and having fun in nature. Activities will include canoeing, hunting for bugs, building sand castles, making mud art, and much more messy fun. The only limit is your imagination! So, dress for a mess - and join us at Latta Plantation!

Kayak and Camping on Mountain Island Lake Pack an overnight bag and join us for kayaking and camping on Mountain Island Lake! We will be enjoying an afternoon kayaking tour of the lake that will depart from Latta Plantation Nature Preserve and end at a camp that will be set up for you by our staff. We will enjoy dinner while watching the sunset from a secluded cove, a campfire, and an optional night paddle. In the morning we will wake up to breakfast prepared by our staff and enjoy a morning paddle back to Latta Plantation Nature Preserve. Be prepared for semi-primitive camping and please pack weather appropriate clothing. Camping and paddling gear will be provided as well as dinner and breakfast.
