Enjoy a naturalist led kayak on Mountain Island Lake. This will be a relaxing paddle weaving in and out through the coves of the lake. All levels welcome. Ages 12 and up $15.00/Single Kayak, $20.00/Tandem Kayak

Naturalist Led Evening Hike Join a naturalist for a guided hike along the trails of Reedy Creek. We will hike at a moderate pace stopping along the way to observe, explore and appreciate nature. Must be able to hike 3+ miles on uneven terrain.
RibbonWalk Volunteer Day with Charlotte Sierra Club Join Park and Rec and the Sierra Club as we fight invasive species at the beautiful RibbonWalk Preserve. Other duties may include light trail work and trash clean-up. Come out and take ownership of your preserve! Tools and gloves provided, but bring your own if you have them. Children under 18 must be accompanied by adult. FREE

Marvelous Mushrooms Join a naturalist to discover the wonderful world of fungi! We will start in the classroom with a quick overview of the life of mushrooms and their role in the ecosystem. We will then head out on the trail to look for specimens. This is an introductory class. Must be able to hike 1 - 2 miles on uneven terrain.

A Mountain Adventure Celebrate the Autumnal Equinox with a mountain adventure! We will spend 1/2 a day whitewater rafting on the Nantahala and the rest of our time hiking around the Great Smoky Mountains.
