|Blooming this month... Not a pineapple This bromeliad, Pitcairnia smithiorum, is a native of South America. It grows up to 24 inches in height and is a perennial plant with a stunning pineapple-shaped reddishorange bloom. It will take light to full shade, can withstand cold, blooms repeatedly throughout the year and needs average water. Although it likes to grow on trees, it also flourishes in containers.
