Ogni anno al Salone si celebra un compleanno. Quest’anno quello del SaloneSatellite, il Salone dedicato ai giovani progettisti. Come succede in tutte le famiglie, il compleanno dei più giovani è sempre il più allegro, partecipato, sentito, vissuto, suggellato da buoni sentimenti e buoni propositi. La crescita del “Satellite” nei 15 anni è stata come quella di alcuni bambini prodigio, straordinaria e sorprendente in avvio, ma ancor più e, come si sa, perché accade solo in pochissimi casi, ancora più straordinaria e sorprendente poi, nel lungo, riproponendo per tutti i 15 anni l’intuizione e la funzione iniziale: creare le premesse per l’incontro e la conoscenza tra giovani progettisti e il sistema industriale. Aver cioè inventato un palcoscenico ideale per affacciarsi al mondo del design che conta.

Il successo universalmente riconosciuto di moltissimi di loro nel mondo della professione e del lavoro ne è la risposta. Quanti i designer passati dal Satellite? Tanti, tantissimi, certamente più di 10.000. Diecimila giovani con la loro creatività, la loro passione, la loro cultura, la loro religione, la loro nazione, la loro speranza. Un importante patrimonio, realizzato partendo da un sogno divenuto realtà: unire i giovani di tutto il mondo parlando il vero esperanto. Il linguaggio del progetto, quello del design. Grazie, Marva! Every year the Salone celebrates a birthday. This year it’s the SaloneSatellite, the Salone dedicated to young designers. As in all large families, the birthday of the youngest member is always the most fun, the most deeply felt, the most charged with good cheer and optimism. The growth of the Satellite during its first 15 years has been that of a child prodigy, extraordinary and surprising at first, but even more so, because it happens so rarely, over the long term, when the initial premise and promise – in this case, promoting contact between young designers and manufacturers – are stronger than ever. In other words, inventing the ideal showcase for the world of design that matters. The success enjoyed by so many of them, artistically and professionally, is the proof.

How many designers have participated in the Satellite? Too many to count, certainly more than 10,000. Ten thousand young people, each with their own creativity, passion, culture, religion, nationality and hope. An important heritage, one that started out as a dream which then came true: bringing together young creators from all over the world, all speaking the one true ‘Esperanto’ – the language of design. Thank you, Marva, for guiding us on this enchanting adventure!

The SaloneSatellite turns 15

È un momento importante nella vita della manifestazione dedicata ai creativi under 35: quest’anno il SaloneSatellite festeggia infatti 15 anni di impegno, dedizione e fiducia verso i giovani. E dà sfogo all’inconfondibile esuberanza di un teen-ager con la consapevolezza di essere stato il primo a dedicare particolare attenzione ai giovani e di essere l’evento dove i giovani promettenti designer hanno desiderato partecipare fin dalla sua prima edizione – tra i tanti perché anche quello della vicinanza con l’adulto Salone del Mobile, lì a infondergli sicurezza e speranza che le cose possono girare, che si deve guardare avanti.

An important moment in the life of the event dedicated to designers under 35: this year the SaloneSatellite celebrates 15 years of commitment and faith in young creativity. And it unleashes the uncontainable exuberance of a teenager with the knowledge of being the first such event to dedicate special attention to young designers, and of being the place where all those designers have wanted to be since its first edition, there adjacent to the ‘adult’ Salone del Mobile, living proof that their hopes and dreams may one day come true.

E il SaloneSatellite guarda al futuro attraverso la lente del tema “Design<->Technology”: una felice biunivocità dove la tecnologia è sempre più parte della quotidianità delle nostre vite, affabulatrice del mondo del progetto.

This year the SaloneSatellite looks toward the future through the theme “Design<->Technology”: a felicitous pairing reflecting the ways that technology plays an ever greater role in our everyday lives and inspires the world of design.

Il primo omaggio del SaloneSatellite alla tecnologia non può che essere quello a Steve Jobs, il pioniere del mondo moderno, che ci ha insegnato a sognare, a credere, a immaginare con la sua tecnologia della creatività.

This first homage of the SaloneSatellite to technology is necessarily in honour of Steve Jobs, pioneer of the contemporary world, maker of dreams, the man who taught us to believe in the possibilities of the union of technology and creativity.

Poi il Senior Curator del Dipartimento di Architettura e Design del Museum of Modern Art di New York – Paola Antonelli – ci racconta della mostra da lei curata lo scorso anno per gli spazi del museo: Talk to me. Design and the Communication between People and Objects dedicata a quei sistemi, a quei meccanismi e a ogni quant’altra diavoleria tecnologica che permette e/o inventa un contatto tra persone e oggetti.

Also featured will be a presentation by Paola Antonelli, Senior Curator of the Department of Architecture and Design at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, who will tell us about the exhibition she staged there last year, Talk to Me. Design and the Communication between People and Objects, dedicated to the various systems and mechanisms and strange technological contraptions that enable and/or generate contact between people and objects.

E infine ci sono i tanti designer che hanno fatto il SaloneSatellite negli anni, presenti attraverso gli arredi dell’allestimento – pezzi firmati da loro e messi poi in produzione dalle principali aziende – e 15 interpretazioni in cui oltre a declinare il tema dell’evento ogni designer racconta la propria esperienza di lavoro che ha avuto gli esordi proprio al SaloneSatellite.

Lastly, there are the many designers who have participated in the SaloneSatellite over the years, present in the form of 15 pieces which have since gone into production by major manufacturers – 15 interpretations with which, in addition to investigating the theme of the event, each designer recounts their own professional experience since debuting at the SaloneSatellite.

Mapper - Tappeti Satellitari: ieri e oggi I Tappeti Satellitari rappresentano una tappa fondamentale del percorso intrapreso successivamente. L'entusiasmo con cui vennero accolti mi incoraggiò a scandagliare con modalità differenti un territorio per me inesplorato, quello delle superfici, viste come una risorsa e non come un confine.

Mapper - Satellite Carpets: past and present Our Satellite Carpets are an important stage in the direction we took after that. The enthusiasm they were greeted with encouraged me to explore – in different ways – previously unexplored terrain: the world of surfaces, seen as a resource rather than a boundary.

L’incontro che non dimenticherò mai Ricordo perfettamente quel giorno. Stavo ancora predisponendo gli oggetti nello stand quando entrarono due persone che volevano acquistare immediatamente. Scoprii successivamente che erano proprietari di una importante galleria di design di New York. Erano due esemplari unici autoprodotti. Era il primo giorno. Decisi di non cederglieli … Un consiglio a un giovane designer Il design oggi presenta uno spettro piuttosto vasto di ambiti nei quali misurarsi. Un consiglio per un giovane designer è quello di non (auto)limitarsi a terreni già battuti ma di saper abbandonare i percorsi più confortanti per individuare prospettive trascurate o meno esplorate che attendono solo un’adeguata valorizzazione.

The meeting I will never forget I remember it perfectly. I was setting up some things in the booth when two people came in wanting to buy them there and then. I found out later that they were the owners of an important design gallery in New York. The objects in question were two one-off pieces I’d made myself. It was the first day. I decided not to hand them over… A word of advice for young designers Today design offers a pretty broad range of different disciplines to work in. The advice I would give to a young designer is not to limit (themselves) to familiar turf, and look off the beaten track for perspectives that have been neglected or left unexplored and that just need to find the right approach.

Wire Frame Reversible: ieri e oggi Quando abbiamo partecipato al SaloneSatellite del 1999, stavamo cercando di sviluppare oggetti con una particolare funzionalità. Ci stavamo concentrando su aree del design poco esplorate. In quel periodo, l'esempio più importante per noi è stato Wire Frame Reversible, una panca di rete e acciaio. In seguito abbiamo lanciato lo sgabello LEM prodotto da Lapalma, che segue lo stesso tipo di concept.

Wire Frame Reversible: past and present When we took part in Satellite in 1999, we were trying to develop objects with particular functionalities, focusing on little explored areas of design. The key example of our work in that period is Wire Frame Reversible, a bench made of mesh and steel rods. Later we launched the LEM barstool by Lapalma which follows the same thinking.

Frame: ieri e oggi Frame è una collezione di mobili in policarbonato colorato e legno. L’intento, condiviso con Gabriele Pezzini con cui ho firmato la collezione, era quello di realizzare dei mobili che giocassero con la trasparenza, la struttura in legno diventava un disegno, il profilo del solido veniva così svuotato e i piani trasparenti come layers sommavano tra loro il colore. Avevamo mille aspettative. La collezione non è mai andata in produzione ma Paul Smith l’ha utilizzata in una sfilata.

Frame: past and present Frame is a collection of furniture in coloured polycarbonate and wood. Together with co-designer Gabriele Pezzini, the idea was to create furniture that played with effects of transparency: the wooden structure as a drawing, the outline of the solid hollowed out and the transparent layers building up the colour. We had all sorts of expectations. The collection never went into production but Paul Smith used it in a runway show.

L’incontro che non dimenticherò mai Ce ne sono stati tanti, SaloneSatelllite era l’occasione (allora per me unica) di conoscere molti altri designer internazionali e non, e di condividere con loro le stesse fatiche e gli stessi sentimenti, c’era uno scambio concreto, ci si aiutava e ci si faceva i complimenti reciprocamente. È stata una vera condivisione di intenti e di speranze. Consigli a un giovane designer Non penso d’aver consigli da dare, ognuno ha la sua storia ed è bene che la percorra autonomamente. L’unico pseudo consiglio è quello di continuare a proporre e insistere.

The meeting I will never forget There are loads, SaloneSatelllite was the definitive (and at the time, for me, the only) opportunity to meet lots of other designers, both Italian and international, with whom you shared the same hard graft, and the same feelings – we helped each other and complimented each other, sharing our aims and dreams. A word of advice for young designers I don’t think I have any advice to give: each individual has their own story and it is right that they should follow their own path. The only pseudo advice I have is to keep presenting your ideas and keep at it in general.

Work n'Play: ieri e oggi Quando ho iniziato a lavorare come designer freelance nel 1998, ad Amsterdam, mi sono concentrato sulla pratica della progettazione. Ho sempre voluto creare un mio linguaggio creativo. Il tema Work n'Play è stato declinato in una serie di oggetti: è stata un'esperienza fantastica, un ottimo biglietto da visita per l'industria e la stampa internazionale. La collaborazione con Moroso e Cappellini è iniziata in quel periodo; poco più tradi, la chaise-longue Bird è entrata a far parte della collezione dello Stedelijk Museum di Amsterdam.

Work n'Play: past and present When I started working as a freelance designer in Amsterdam in 1998, I focussed on design practice. I have always wanted to invent my own creative language. I designed several objects around the theme of Work n'Play. It was a wonderful experience, the perfect introduction to the industry and the press. I started working with Moroso and Cappellini started in that period, and not long after the SaloneSatellite show the Bird Chaise Longue entered the permanent collection of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.

L’incontro che non dimenticherò mai Non dimenticherò mai il mio primo incontro con Marva Griffin. Mi ha catturato non solo per la sua simpatia, ma anche per l'entusiasmo che dimostra nel sostenere i giovani designer. Mi ha colpito molto sentirla dire che dobbiamo promuovere la cultura del design da tutto il mondo.

I will never forget meeting I will never forget my first meeting with Marva Griffin. She has a great personality and is so enthusiastic about supporting young designers. It was an eye-opener to hear her talk about how we have to promote real design culture from around the world, and I think she is absolutely right.

Spun Light: ieri e oggi Nel 2002 ho presentato Spun Light, la reazione è stata molto positiva e ho ricevuto ordini da tutto il mondo. In quel periodo producevo i miei lavori da solo, ma quattro mesi dopo SaloneSatellite Flos mi ha contattato e l'anno dopo ha lanciato la collezione Spun Light. Presentare il mio lavoro a Milano ha alimentato il mio interesse per il product design, il successo della collezione mi ha incoraggiato a mettere in produzione altre idee. Questo atteggiamento positivo è stato fondamentale per la creazione di Established and Sons, di cui sono co-fondatore. Senza dubbio se non avessi partecipato al SaloneSatellite oggi non sarei dove sono.

Spun Light: past and present In 2002 I presented my Spun Light collection, the reaction was very positive and I received many orders from across the world, at the time I was producing them myself, then four months after SaloneSatellite, Flos contacted me requesting a meeting and subsequently they launched the Spun Light collection. Presenting in Milan for the first time fueled my interest in product design, the success of the Spun Light collection, gave me confidence to push other ideas into production. This ‘can do’ attitude was essential in the start up of Established and Sons, of which I was a co founder. I can honestly say that if I did not present at the Salone Satellite in 2002 I would not be where I am today.

Pensavo volesse comprare delle lampade! Consigli a un giovane designer Molto semplice: segui l'istinto, lavora con passione e determinazione, ma non essere troppo indulgente con te stesso.

The meeting I will never forget Receiving a phone call from Piero Gandini’s (Flos) office and asking his assistant if Mr Gandini was an architect... I had no idea who he was. I thought he was calling to buy some lights!!! A word of advice for young designers Very simple: follow your instinct, be passionate and determined but don’t be too self indulgent.

Mizzica!: ieri e oggi Mizzica! è un fornello a gas con bomboletta usa e getta che ti segue ovunque. Anche in camera da letto, anche dove ancora non immagini. Nato quasi per caso, ci serviva un sostegno per presentare una nuova moka. Come è finita? La moka è ancora un concept mentre Mizzica! è entrato nel catalogo di Foppapedretti.

Mizzica!: past and present Mizzica! is a disposable gas stove that you can use anywhere, even in the bedroom, and in places you’d never imagine. It came about almost by chance, we were looking for a support to present a new moka coffee pot. How it ended up was that the moka is still at the concept stage while Mizzica! is now in the Foppapedretti catalogue.

L’incontro che non dimenticheremo mai Senz’altro l'incontro con Maria Elena Estrada, direttore della rivista brasiliana ARC design. Anni dopo ci ha invitato a tenere una conferenza in Brasile in occasione della fiera Muvelsul. Da allora abbiamo iniziato molte collaborazioni con importanti aziende brasiliane come Riva, Allè, Bertolini, che hanno visto nascere alcuni dei nostri migliori prodotti. Grazie Maria Elena!

The meeting I will never forget Without a doubt the meeting with Maria Elena Estrada, director of the Brazilian magazine ARC design. Years later she invited us to hold a conference in Brazil on occasion of the Muvelsul fair, and after that began to work with lots of important Brazilian companies, like Riva, Allè and Bertolini, giving rise to some of our best products. Abat-jour: ieri e oggi Abat-jour è una lampada in porcellana bianca lavorata a bassorilievo. Una volta accesa, rivela la sagoma dell’abat-jour. L’idea è nata durante una residenzastudio in Giappone dedicata allo sviluppo di progetti in ceramica e porcellana. Sono affezionata a questa lampada perché è il mio primo progetto entrato in produzione, grazie all'incontro con un'azienda, Fabbian Illuminazione, con cui è è iniziata una proficua collaborazione che ha generato molte altre collezioni. Un esito che ha superato ogni mia aspettativa!

Abat-jour: past and present Abat-jour is a white porcelain lamp with a bas-relief effect. When on, it shows the silhouette of a table lamp. The idea came about during a study trip to Japan focussing on projects in ceramics and porcelain. I am still very attached to this lamp because it was my first project to go into production, thanks to meeting the company Fabbian Illuminazione. That was the start of a fruitful partnership that has led to many other collections. The outcome has far exceeded my expectations!

Fossili Moderni: ieri e oggi Fossili Moderni è nato tra le mura del piccolo appartamento, dove vivevo, trasformato per necessità in un laboratorio temporaneo. Il riscontro è stato grande e inaspettato. Ricordo che lo stand era costantemente pieno di pubblico. Da allora, Fossili Moderni è in continua evoluzione. Ultimo avvistamento: The New Italian Design 2.0, la mostra promossa dal Triennale Design Museum di Milano a Istanbul.

Fossili Moderni: past and present Fossili Moderni was set up in the small apartment I was living in, which I turned into a temporary workshop out of necessity. The response was incredible and unexpected. I remember that the stand was always packed out. Since then Fossili Moderni has evolved constantly. Last sighting: The New Italian Design 2.0, an exhibition staged in Istanbul by the Milan-based Triennale Design Museum.

L’incontro che non dimenticherò mai Non dimenticherò mai la visita di due signori molto distinti, in abito nero e con un modo di fare pacato e serio. Mi fecero poche domande, precise e dirette. Mi salutarono lasciandomi il loro biglietto da visita. Erano Murray Moss e Franklin Getchell: scoprii solo dopo chi fossero. Qualche mese più tardi mi contattarono da New York per un progetto su commissione. Un consiglio a un giovane designer Risparmiare sforzi e budget, concentrarsi su una proposta forte, che sia sorprendente ma concreta. Poi tutto torna!

The meeting I will never forget I’ll never forget being visited by two very distinguished gentlemen, in black suits, very reserved and serious. They asked me a few direct, specific questions. And then they left, leaving their business cards: it was Murray Moss and Franklin Getchell. A few months later they got in touch from New York for a commission. A word of advice for young designers Save your energy and money and focus on one strong idea, something that is surprising but concrete. Do that and everything will work out.

Heritage in Progress: ieri e oggi Heritage in Progress è una collezione che mette a confronto tradizione e vivere contemporaneo. Abbiamo usato semplici tecniche industriali ed è stato una grande successo: dei cinque oggetti che abbiamo presentato, quattro sono entrati in produzione. La stampa era molto interessata: hanno parlato di noi Wallpaper, Frame, Hochparterre. Heritage in Progress ha vinto anche due premi: il die besten Award e il Swiss Federal Design Award.

Heritage in Progress: past and present Heritage in Progress is a collection that brings together heritage and contemporary lifestyles. We used simple industrial techniques and it was a great experience for us because four of the five objects we presented became products. We also got good press coverage, with articles in Wallpaper, Frame and Hochparterre, and Heritage in Progress won the die besten Award and the Swiss Federal Design Award.

L’incontro che non dimenticheremo mai SaloneSatellite è fantastico, in pochi giorni conosci moltissima gente. Tra le persone più interessanti che abbiamo incontrato c’erano Nick Vinson, Pierre Doze, Meret Ernst e, naturalmente, Marva Griffin. Grazie a quest’occasione abbiamo iniziato anche a collaborare con Ligne Roset, il risultato migliore. Consigli a un giovane designer Sii ottimista, non ascoltare i critici e fai le cose di testa tua.

We will never forget meeting SaloneSatellite is great because you get to meet a lot of people in a short period of time. Among the most interesting people we met were Nick Vinson, Pierre Doze, Meret Ernst and of course Marva Griffin. La Femme et la Maison: ieri e oggi La collezione La Femme et la Maison, presentata al SaloneSatellite 2007, esprime il DNA della mia poetica progettuale. Maid Chair è stata il trampolino di lancio per avviare i contatti con due marchi favolosi, Moroso e Moooi. Il motivo del pizzo introdotto in quell'occasione è diventato uno dei più forti segni distintivi del mio lavoro.

La Femme et la Maison: past and present La Femme et la Maison collection, presented at SaloneSatellite in 2007, expresses my design DNA. The Maid Chair turned out to be a launch pad for contacts with two fabulous companies, Moroso and Moooi. The lace motif I created at that time became one of the signature features of my work.

L’incontro che non dimenticherò mai Grazie al SaloneSatellite, ho stabilito contatti duraturi e stretto grandi amicizie, ma ovviamente l'incontro più memorabile è stato con Patrizia Moroso e Marcel Wanders. Wanders, con Moooi, ha editato sia Lolita Lamp sia la collezione 5 o'clock, rivestendo un ruolo particolarmente significativo nella mia carriera. Consigli a un giovane designer Lavora sodo e non darti limiti nei sogni.

I will never forget meeting Thanks to SaloneSatellite I have made long lasting contacts and some great friendships, but of course the most memorable thing was meeting Patrizia Moroso and Marcel Wanders. Wanders produced both the Lolita Lamp and the 5 o’ clock collection for Moooi, playing a very significant role in my career. A word of advice for young designers Work hard and dream unlimited dreams.

First Light: ieri e oggi Al SaloneSatellite 2008 abbiamo presentato la nostra prima collezione. Una parte dei prodotti esplorava l’uso dei materiali; un’altra rifletteva sui processi del quotidiano. La lampada First Light, disegnata da Anna Blattert e Daniel Gafner, ha vinto il Design Report Award. Da allora, abbiamo ideato altre quattro collezioni e cercato continuamente un modo di sviluppare un product design locale, sostenibile e basato sul networking.

First Light: past and present We presented our first collection at SaloneSatellite in 2008. Part of the products focussed on the use of materials, while others attempted to reflect on everyday routines, to reconsider habitual processes. The lamp First Light, designed by Anna Blattert and Daniel Gafner, the symbol of this collection, won the Design Report Award ’08. Since then, we have developed another four collections, constantly striving to make our product design local, sustainable and network-based.

L’incontro che non dimenticheremo mai Abbiamo stretto numerosi contatti, soprattutto con la stampa, che è molto interessata al modo in cui pensiamo e lavoriamo insieme. Le conversazioni con i giornalisti, il pubblico e i giovani designer sono state preziosissime.

We will never forget meeting We made lots of contacts –the press in particular was very interested in the way we think and how we work together. Our talks and discussions with journalists, the public and young designers were very valuable.

PingPong Door: ieri e oggi Il pezzo forte era il prototipo funzionante di PingPong Door. Mi aspettavo che la mostra fosse un concentrato di azione e divertimento, ed è stato proprio così. Ho incontrato gente fantastica, pochi del settore. Dopodiché mi ci sono voluti altri due o tre anni di sforzi per arrivare alla produzione del pezzo. Ho aperto una società con un consulente finanziario, poi ci siamo divisi e ho perso i diritti della PingPong Door. È stata un'esperienza comunque molto importante, utile a motivare tutti i miei progetti.

PingPong Door: past and present The main act was the functioning prototype of the PingPong Door. I expected the exhibition to be full of fun and action and it was! I met great people, only few from the industry. Afterwards it took two more years to get the construction and manufacturing of the Door worked out perfectly. I started a company with an investment banker, we had to split and I lost the rights for the PingPong Door. It was a very important experience and highly motivating for all my new projects.

L’incontro che non dimenticherò mai … Antonio Cabrini, il leggendario calciatore italiano. Abbiamo fatto una meravigliosa partita a ping pong, registrata da un buffo operatore di Rai2. Mi faceva ridere tanto che non riuscivo a tenere ferma la racchetta.

The meeting I will never forget … Antonio Cabrini, the soccer legend from Italy. We were playing a really nice PingPong match together. What a relaxed person. The game was filmed and commented by this crazy showmaster from Rai Due. He made me laugh so bad, I had problems holding my PingPong bat.

Rabbit Tables: ieri e oggi Rabbit Tables è una collezione di tavoli bassi dalle forme fluide, che stimola interazioni indefinite. Abbiamo ripensato al concetto di tavolo come superfici diverse che possono fluttuare nello spazio. Abbiamo presentato il progetto nel 2009 e un’azienda si è offerta di editarlo, ma solo quest’anno abbiamo lavorato con un nuovo marchio per sviluppare il prototipo. Il progetto sembra rinato nelle mani del nuovo interlocutore, grazie alla sua esperienza tecnica e imprenditoriale. Il tutto è molto eccitante.

Rabbit Tables: past and present Rabbit Tables is a collection of low tables with fluid shapes that stimulate indefinite interactions. We reworked the concept of the table as different surfaces that can float around in space. We presented the project in 2009, and a company approached us to produce it. However, it was only this year that we finally worked with another manufacturer to develop the prototype. The project feels like it's come to life again with in the hands of the new manufacturer, thanks to their technical and business expertise, so it is all very exciting.

L’incontro che non dimenticheremo mai L’incontro più interessante che ci si può aspettare è quello con un marchio che intende produrre le tue collezioni . Ma è divertente anche conoscere colleghi designer con cui si resta in contatto. Il mondo ti sembra più piccolo quando hai una rete di amici che lavorano sodo come te. Holm Milano Collection: ieri e oggi Il progetto è partito dall’analisi di un problema che trovo molto interessante: il bisogno di prodotti che si adattino a situazioni diverse. Il tavolo, per esempio, è un oggetto fisso, mentre un candelabro si può trasformare, appiattire, e una finestra o degli appendiabiti possono essere messi in posizioni diverse. Speravo di sviluppare i miei lavori con marchi internazionali, e il risultato del SaloneSatellite è stato che quasi tutti i prodotti ora sono in produzione o sviluppati con brand come HAY e Muuto.

Holm Milano 2011 Collection: past and present The project started out by tackling something that fascinates me: our need for products that can adapt to different situations. The table, for example, is a fixed structure but a candelabra can be modified, flattened, and even a window or clothes hangers can be rearranged on the wall. I was hoping to develop my work with international brands and as a result of the exhibition almost all my products are either in production or in development with brands like HAY and Muuto.

L’incontro che non dimenticherò mai La cosa che mi ha più affascinato del SaloneSatellite è stata l'atmosfera. C'era un'euforia palpabile tra gli espositori e la quantità di energia messa nei progetti è davvero incredibile. SaloneSatellite è il culmine di molti mesi di lavoro e il feedback che si riceve da produttori, stampa, visitatori e altri designer vale assolutamente tutto il tempo e il lavoro spesi.

I will never forget meeting The most memorable thing about SaloneSatellite is probably the atmosphere. There is so much anticipation and excitement among the exhibitors and the amount of work generally put into the projects is amazing. This is the culmination of many months of hard work and the feedback received from producers, the press, visitors and other exhibitors makes it worth all the time and money spent.

Cromatina Chair: past and present Cromatina Chair is a collection of chairs that interact with the user. Each chair is the outcome of a spontaneous thought process. Our biggest aim is to surprise people: arouse positive emotions in our clients with objects capable of transporting, relaxing, cradling, protecting and amusing the user.

L'incontro che non dimenticheremo mai Con Elisa Mondè, artista brasiliana, che ha regalato a mio fratello Alessio, un biglietto con scritto: “You are genius! Michelangelo 2010!”. Ma anche quello dei due imprenditori di Hong Kong che, dopo aver provato la nostra Natural Equilibrium ispirata al Tao, hanno commentato: “Abbiamo avuto davanti agli occhi questo simbolo per secoli e non avevamo mai pensato a un oggetto simile”.

1 - Sii curioso e cura altri interessi oltre al design: aiuta ad aprire la mente. 2 - Lavora sodo e sii esigente con te stesso come lo sei con gli altri. 3 - Approfondisci la conoscenza della storia, serve sempre. 4 - Non copiare. Bisogna essere innovativi! 5 - Cerca di concepire oggetti che possano superare la prova del tempo. 6 - Non fare le cose solo per avere un po’ di successo. 7 - Abbi cura di quello che fai, anche se lo fai solo per divertimento. 8 - Rispetta i tuoi colleghi, anche se non condividi le stesse opinioni. 9 - Rimani umile anche quando raggiungi il successo. 10 - Quello che fai deve darti piacere!

Sono due ciotole diverse con due piatti diversi, che possono essere scambiati. Si può scegliere di combinare le diverse dimensioni invertendo le posizioni di piatti e ciotole. It is a set of porcelain bowls, which can be used to store food, keep candy or serve such dishes as soups and dips. The concept is to design two different bowls with two different tops, which can be inter-exchanged. One can choose and combine different sizes combining flat or high bowls and tops.

3 PER 1, Andrea Reggiani - Italy (Stand B2) Honey Un sistema luminoso composto da un servizio di trentasei piatti di porcellana Parian, dotati di magnete per staccarli e riattaccarli al sostegno, per utilizzarli in tavola. È realizzato con processi artigianali e con materiali di pregio e di recupero. A lighting system composed of a service of 36 Parian porcelain plates fitted with magnets for attaching them to the support for storage and detaching them for use at the table. Cercando di inserirmi nella grande quantità di stili di cibo e spazi, mi è venuta l’idea di combinare vari materiali (legno, acrilico, Corian), ma con la stessa forma e struttura. In order to fit in with a great deal of style of food and interior spaces, I came up with the idea of combining various materials (Wood, Acrylic, Corion) together yet with the same shape and structure.
