ONTONAGON LABOR FESTIVAL
Long weekend celebration includes music, food, fun
ONTONAGON — The 56th annual Labor Festival Celebration in Ontonagon is slated for four days Friday, Aug. 30 through Monday, Sept. 2. Many of the familiar activities are again on the bill, but other new events are being planned, according to co-chairmen Bill Chabot and Jan Tucker. A community picnic, dance, Maxwell Street Day, free antique appraisals, auto show, 5K and 10K run sponsored by Aspirus, a parade featuring five bands, community festival and kiddies parade are just some of the events. The festival parade on Sunday, Sept. 1, at 2 p.m. EST will include some large home-built floats for which the festival is known. Bands include Marty’s Goldenaires drum and bugle corps, which will also perform following the parade. Contact Tucker at 906-884-4196 for more information.
