PAST MASTER DR. GERHARDT BUBNIK (CZE): BORN 1935 Gerhardt Bubník competed in Figure Skating winning a number of medals including Czech Junior Champion in 1953. Aged 23 he retired from competition, to become a judge and subsequently he judged and refereed at several ISU Championships and Olympic Winter Games. In 1969 Dr Bubník was the first Czech to obtain an LLM from Harvard Law School, and was awarded the prestigious Adizon Brown Prize. Dr. Bubník became Member of the ISU Appeal Commission in 1988 and was ISU Legal Advisor from 1996 to 2010. In 1999 he became Chair of the Arbitration Commission of the Czech Olympic Committee. In 2007 he received the Olympic Order, the highest award from the Olympic Movement, for 50 years of service and in 2009 he was awarded the Prize for Fight Against Doping for his pioneering work as President of the Czech National Review Body under the WADA Code. Since 2010 he is an ISU Honorary Member. In 1990 Dr. Gerhardt Bubník became partner in Bubník Myslil & Partners law firm and is an internationally recognized expert in matters pertaining to sport and ethical rules, including doping cases.
