2nd ESO B

In Technology we made a project on plastics or metals in groups of 1,2,3 or 4 people.

This project consisted of finding information about the different types of plastics or metals and about how we can recycle those materials.

The best work was the one my group did, so my group won in my class. Then, the group that won in each of the three classes of 2nd ESO had to present their work in front of some teachers.

Finally, the jury decided that my group was the best.

One of the groups lost the competition because of a problem.

On 3rd February 2015 the two groups that continued in the competition had to present our project at the “ONCE� association.

INTERVIEW TO PAULA What do you think about this project?

It has been a very positive experience, I have learnt a lot.

What did you like the most?

Going to the “ONCE” association.

Do you think you have improved anything?

Yes, I have written the book in braille, the language for the blind.

How was the day that you went to the “ONCE”?

It was a increible experience. I had a very good time with all my classmates.

The students of 1st of ESO went to the adventure forest in Dos Rius. They got there by coach. They left the school at eight o’clock and they returned to Montgat at quarter to three.

In the forest they went down the zip line and vines, they walked on rope bridges, and carried out many other activities.

Interview to Marta Hello Marta, now we will ask you about your experience in the adventure forest. 路When did you go there?

We went there in the middle of November. 路What activities did you carry out?

We went down the zip line. 路Did you have a good time?

We had a very good time since it was very entertaining.

Was it the first time that you went to this place? 路Yes, it was the first time that I went there.

The INS Thalassa organizes a campaign for the ALS (ELA)

On 6th October INS Thalassa organized a campaign to raise money for the ALS .

What is ALS? The ALS is a disease called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

It’s a degenerative disease that affects the nervous system.

It is a very serious disease that ends up producing the death of the person.

What did INS Thalassa do?

All tutors explained what ALS is in class and informed about the campaign so that students could participate.

After that, the teachers took a photo of the people who contributed to the capmaign. In the photo they had to make the ALS sign with their fingers.

Later they made a poster with all the pictures.

On Friday they also organized a chocolate party to raise money for the ALS research.

* The High School helped the AFANOC to carry out the campaign Put on the Cap from 19th to 21st of November. The campaign consisted of buying a cap designed by Custo for 6â‚Ź. This 6â‚Ź allowed children from 3 to 17 years to enter the Barcelona zoo for free whereas adults could enter with a 50% of discount.

Every student could buy his/her cap at breaktime.

The money that was collected was used to improve the quality of life of children who suffer from cancer.

* Why did you want to take part in this campaign?

I took part because it appeals our solidarity.

How did you feel after you collaborated?

I felt well because the money we paid for the cap went to people who needed it.

Do you think that a lot of money was collected in 3 days?

Yes, because there were a lot of students that collaborated.

Do you think that this campaign should continue?

I think so because a lot of people need this money.

Would you like Thalassa to make more similar campaigns for other diseases?

Yes, because we could help people that have these diseases.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION EXCURSION TO THE BEACH 2nd ESO

On Thursday 25th September 2014 the students of 2nd ESO went for 1 hour to the beach. When they arrived there, they started to do some funny activities like a volleyball mach among other games.

After that, the students who wanted to swim in the sea could swim the rest of the time.

INTERVIEW TO POL GONZÁLEZ • How did you go to the beach?

We went walking because it was near the school.

• Which was the best game for you?

The game which consisted of throwing the other boy to the floor.

Did you go swimming?

Yes, I did. The water was very good and there was a lot of waves.

• Did you like this excursion?

Yes, I did. It was funny and we had a great time.

SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS

Francesc Sabater Garcia

This year we have celebrated the school board elections because two students were needed. Paula Hernández and Pol Martí were running for these elections. As there were only two candidates and two vacancies, they knew they will both win.

When all the boys and girls of the INS Thalassa voted, Pol Marti won for about twenty votes.

Pol Marti is a student of fourth of ESO, but I don’t know him.

Paula Hernández is a very good student of second of ESO and she is a good person to be a school board member.

INTERVIEW TO PAULA HERNĂ NDEZ Why did you run in for the elections?

Because I liked the idea of representing the students very much Are you happy with the results?

Yes, a lot because I only lost for twenty votes!

Did you do some electioneering?

No I didn’t.

Have you started to work in the school board?

Yes, two weeks ago I had a meeting with some teachers.

A helicopter lands in the INS Thalassa

A boy of 2nd ESO fell on the floor in one of the school corridors.

Then, the teachers were warned and they called emergencies. However, emergencies didn’t have any ambulance available, so they decided to send a helicopter to fetch the student.

Suddenly, while all the students were taking their lessons, a helicopter arrived and landed in the playground making a lot of noise.

Then, the paramedics came. They were trying to carry the boy to the helicopter when an ambulance arrived. Finally, they decided to carry him to the hospital in the ambulance.

Interview to Julio Ortega V:How were you feeling before you fell onto the floor?

J:I felt strange and sick.

V:Did you see the helicopter?

J:Yes, it was enormous and impressive.

V:Were you scared?

J:Yes, because I didn’t know what it would happen to me.

Every year the students of 4th of ESO paint the walls and doors of the school with picture by famous painters or characters from films.

This year Alexander Nicolรกs has painted Dobby, the character of the Harry Potter Saga on the door of 4th of ESO D.

By Víctor García (2nd B) and Paula Giménez (3rd A) Alexander Nicolás, you have painted Dobby, the elf of Harry Potter. Tell us, who had the idea?

•It was Isabel’s idea, the Art teacher.

•It was difficult for you to draw this?

•Yes because I think I’m not good at drawing.

•I don’t think so. And do you like Harry Potter films?

•Yes, a little bit.

-Did you liked this activity?

Yes, because is quite entertaining -What do you like the most drawing or painting?

Drawing because I like it more than painting.

-Now the last question. Are you satisfied with your picture?

Yes, of course.

THE CIUTADELLA PARK By: Nadine Moreno

On the 22nd of December the students of 2n ESO went to Barcelona to carry out a treasure hunt. They took the train and got off at Arc de Triomf station. Then they walked until Portal del ﾃ］gel Avenue where they were divided into groups of 4 or 5 people and began to carry out the first treasure hunt..

When the treasure hunt had finished, they ate a sandwich and headed for the Ciutadella park.

There the second treasure hunt took place. This second hunt consisted of finding the answer to some questions about the park.

Interview to Laura Moralejo • Did you like the treasure hunt?

Yes, I loved it.

• Do you recommend it?

•Yes, I recommend it.

• Why did you like it so much?

Because we could carry out the activity alone. The teacher left us alone.

•Would you like to repeat this activity?

Yes, of course.

•What did you like the most?

That it was a race because we wanted to win the other teams.

The students of 4th ESO go to the Sagrada Familia and the ice rink

The students of 4th of ESO went to the Roger de Flor skating and the Sagrada Familia on 22nd December.

The students went to the railway station at 8 am and went to Barcelona. Then they got off at Arc de Triomf station and walked to the ice rink.

They stayed there for about 3 hours and then went Christmas shopping next to the Sagrada Familia.

Finally they went to the railway station to return to Montgat.

The students of 1st ESO celebrated Christmas at school. The student arrived at school with a different face because that day they were going to celebrate Christmas!

They did different activities: basketball, voleyball, football, cooking, board games, cinema, music and Art. They laughed a lot and had a very good time!

I wanted to participate in the “canapés” workshop because I had heard that they were delicious! However, I couldn’t do it because I thought that maybe the activity was a litlle bit boring. It was funny because you could run along the hall and nobody could tell you anything! (C) Thank you very much, Carla!

THE PEACE DAY Laura Moralejo 2 ESO B

On 30th January we celebrated the international day of non-violence and peace.

In tutorial time we took a test about the culture of peace.

After the test we cut a paper dove like this and wrote the word peace in different languages in it.
