With the enrollment at Tech growing each term, there came a need for a glee club in the school. The group was organized in the winter of 1946-'47, but it was not until the fall of 1947 that the services of Mr. Varner Chance, Supervisor of Music in the Public Schools of Fort Wayne, as director and Mr. Robert Shepfer as accompanist were secured . Miss Madeline Crowley has been faculty advisor since the group was organized. A great asset to the club has been the feature soloist, Mrs. Jean Beights.

The Glee Club has taken part in all of the outstanding functions of the school as well as provid ing entertainment for the various groups and organizations throughout the city. For the school the club has sung at Commencement Exercises, the Alumni Banquet, convocations, and at the Open House. Other groups and organizations the club has entertained are the Business Women's Club, Republican Women's Club, Kiwanis Club, General Electric Squares Club, Fire Underwriters, the Isaac Walton League, and at numerous churches. In May, 1949, the chorus, as the product of many long hours of rehearsal. presented its first concert. The proceeds from the concert went i'oward the funds for purchasing robes. The Glee Club, although it consists of only twenty-four members, has been very active in school and has had a well-rounded program of public service.
